Monday's announcement from the Governor, while perhaps not surprising, hit very hard in my household, as I’m sure it did in yours. The reality of this abrupt end to the school year, and all that comes with it, has left many feeling sad and anxious. There is a lot we don't know right now. I can tell you that the
Langley staff and PTSA are committed to doing whatever we can to support the Langley community and, if possible, salvage some of the end-of-year activities, especially for seniors.
Langley teachers and staff
will be working to figure out how to finish out the school year in an online format and how to address new content.
The PTSA is continuing to work
, determining which initiatives can move forward and which cannot.
One ongoing initiative is our Staff Appreciation effort
. More than ever, we'd like to show our appreciation. Please donate
here to help reach our goal of gifting each member of the Langley staff with a $25 gift card.
Thank you all for your patience during these uncertain times. The
eNews
will continue
to share your news, as well as school-related information as it becomes available. And, though the building will remain closed, we've been informed that
Langley staff will return to work virtually next week and will begin reaching out to students.
Wishing you all good health and wellness.
~ Laura Skeen, PTSA President

A bit of good news!
The

If you have photos of spring activities or sports, please email them with a short note
THIS WEEK by
Fri, March 27 to
KJMulligan@fcps.edu. (This is a hard deadline, as the
Shire’s deadline to the publisher is Mon, March 30.)

Winning a silver medal in the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Program is
Zeynep Yardimci. Congratulations! She is one of only 18 winners in FCPS. Over 300,000 entries were submitted from across the country in all the categories in this nearly 100-year old contest.

it's time to donate your leaf!
|
|
We’ll still landscape Langley's main courtyard as soon as we have access to it.
Just how gorgeous and green it will be, however, depends upon how many donations are made ASAP! Please donate a leaf or two to the
Langley Legacy Tree
, the wall sculpture growing in the
Langley Lobby. As seen in the photo, dozens of leaves and birds were added to the tree just before the school closure.
|
|
About 100 of our seniors already have a leaf inscribed in their honor.
Add your senior! Leaves also are a great way to pay tribute to teachers, family and friends.
Giving levels are copper leaf ($50), silver leaf ($100), gold leaf ($200) and acorn or bird ($500). With a $1,000+ donation, your family's name is included on the Courtyard Benefactor Plaque, which will be installed next to the Tree.

and despite (or especially during) this closure,
the Langley community and PTSA wants to show its appreciation for our Langley staff by

Thank you for helping to continue this tradition of thanking our teachers!
