"Stay Home, Stay Healthy" Order from the Governor
|
|
On March 23, Gov. Jay Inslee spoke directly to Washingtonians to announce he will sign a statewide
"Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order
that requires everyone in the state to stay home. The order will last for two weeks and could be extended. This proclamation will:
- Require every Washingtonian to stay home unless they need to pursue an essential activity.
- Ban all gatherings for social, spiritual and recreational purposes.
- Close all businesses except essential businesses.
The proclamation states it’s still safe for people to go outside as long as they remain at least six feet from each other. Grocery stores, doctor’s offices and other essential businesses will remain open. People can still participate in activities such as bike rides, gardening, and dog walking — as long as they follow social distancing rules. For more information, please visit the

Dr. Jon Holmen Named the Next LWSD Superintendent
|
|
The LWSD Board of Directors has selected Dr. Jon Holmen to be the next Lake Washington School District Superintendent. Dr. Holmen has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Seattle Pacific University, a Masters in Teaching from City University, a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Seattle Pacific University and a Doctorate of Education from Seattle Pacific University. Dr. Holmen will replace Dr. Jane Stavem, who has resigned from Lake Washington School District, and is moving to a Superintendent position in Sioux Falls, South Dakota effective July 1, 2020.

What is the census and when does it happen? Every 10 years, everyone living in the United States is asked to complete a simple but very important constitutional task: respond to The Census. The 2020 Census is a questionnaire that asks a few basic questions such as the age, sex and number of people who live or stay in your home. With toilet paper in short supply, it’s important to remember that disposable wipes, paper towels, feminine products and other disinfecting wipe products are NEVER to be flushed down the toilet – even when the packaging claims things like “flushable” or “biodegradable.”
Disposable wipes and similar products DO NOT BREAK APART like normal toilet paper, and CAN CLOG sewer lines and lift station pumps, leading to costly, unsanitary BACKUPS.
