'TIS THE SEASON TO REACH OUT TO ALL
'Tis the season -- and the year -- to reach out and contact others to let them know we are all part of the world.
With this year of mask-wearing, our body-language skills are not being utilized, which tends towards our "crankiness." Don't let 2020 get the better of us: rise up and magnify the good cheer!

Sorting Day: 271 Quilts and 199 Totes
Thank you for making this year especially meaningful for the Community Service Bee.
Members gathered on Oct. 15 in the parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church on NW 53rd Avenue to sort 271 quilts and 199 totes. The quilts and totes, along with 376 pillowcases, 448 sets of flannel NICU hearts, and 60 medical dolls, are being distributed to organizations in our community.
Gennette Gailey photographed each quilt, as she had done for years to show at the December business meeting. She also made a video of the sorting event for the Guild’s upcoming business meeting in November. You don’t want to miss either presentation!
Preparing for 2021
Watch your email for a message asking if you need batting. We will continue to meet in Gennette’s driveway on the third Thursdays in November and December. Members can pick up pre-ordered batting and choose fabric.
If you cannot meet in person, contact Gail Benz, Gennette Gailey, Anna Rasmussen, or Carol Wilkerson for supplies.

The Guild Mourns Jane Rhoden
As you know, our beloved member Jane Rhoden passed away recently.
Her family has asked us to announce that they have some sewing things they would like to sell. These include a Bernina 120 Embroidery machine, an embellisher, a Singer Golden Touch and Sew, a high-end cutting board, sewing machine table, set of drawers, a lot of material for fabric arts, embellishing yarn, thread and books.
If anybody is interested please call her daughter Margaret, 215-554-8177. Use your cell phone, as it’s a Philadelphia phone number. She is taking offers.

PLEASE HELP SELL RAFFLE QUILT TICKETS!
|
|
Please help the guild sell raffles for our annual quilt. Since most public events have been canceled this year, we are depending on members to help raise these essential funds.
I know this quilt was made and selected over a year ago, but it is developing into more of a story. When you look at the individual bears, many of them represent first responders and essential workers. It actually turns out to be a tribute quilt for this year -- and very fitting for 2020.
If you want tickets to sell, I can arrange to mail or drop off tickets, or you can pick them up at my house. Also, some people are just sending me a check for the number of tickets they want, and I fill them out, and take a picture of the tickets to send to them before putting the tickets in the jar.
Thank you for your help.
Barbara Lindsey
