A Message from the  Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

I hope this finds you and your family experiencing an enjoyable summer break. As you know, the district was closed the last week of June and first week of July. We travelled to South Padre Island for the break where my wife and I had a great time with our children and grandchildren.

The administration building resumed normal work hours on Monday. We are open from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Please call on us if we may be of assistance.

Safety and Security

Beginning Monday, July 9th, the Lovejoy ISD Administration building implemented a new safety and security procedure. The front door to the administration building will remain locked during regular business hours. Visitors may use the exterior door buzzer to gain access through the front door. We thank you for your assistance with this safety and security protocol. Please let us know if you have any questions, or if we may be of assistance.

Learning @ Lovejoy: Educator Development

Dear Lovejoy Community:

I hope you are enjoying your summer break. Summer is often a busy time as we prepare to welcome the students back on August 20th. One of our major efforts is ensuring Lovejoy teachers have the best professional development. To support this goal, we will host the 12th Annual Learning @ Lovejoy in a few weeks. This year our nine days of learning will be July 23rd - 26th and July 30th - August 3rd. Nearly 100% of our teachers and administrators attend at least five of the nine days of learning. This level of commitment and consistent knowledge in our culture is one of the cornerstones of our success in Lovejoy ISD.

From the beginning, our mission for Learning @ Lovejoy has been to bring in the level of professional learning which educators may find at national conferences offered by national education organizations. Knowing we would have "empty seats" available for educators outside of Lovejoy ISD to attend, we offer educators from both public and private schools a day of world class learning for $150 per day which includes lunch and all materials. This fits with our Learning @ Lovejoy tag line of, "They Are All Our Kids". If an educator outside of Lovejoy attends and goes back to their school and classroom a better educator, it helps all of us as a community, state, and nation.

We are very proud of the speakers and sessions we have scheduled for the 12th Annual Learning @ Lovejoy. Featured speakers include Sheila Heen (a Harvard Professor offering a session from her best-selling book, Thanks for the Feedback), Susan Brookhart (educator and author offering sessions about effective formative assessment strategies to use in classrooms), Alice Keeler (international expert on most effective uses of technology to enhance learning), and many, many, more. For a more detailed description of the 2018 Learning @ Lovejoy sessions, please click here .

Lovejoy educators are dedicated to learning and growing. This is demonstrated each year with their participation in Learning @ Lovejoy so they can make it the best year yet for each student.

We hope you continue to love where you learn. If you have feedback to help us improve, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell at 214.385.1967.

Respectfully,
Dennis Muizers
Deputy Superintendent
