"Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you" ~St. Augustine
In Sunday’s gospel reading we witness the people of Jesus’ hometown reject him. Though they are amazed at his wisdom and his mighty deeds, they know his family and his background and so their minds are closed to the possibility of who He might truly be. Acknowledging their lack of faith, He reminds them that no prophet is accepted in his hometown, and he refuses to perform any deeds other than a few minor healings. As you prepare for Mass this weekend, here are some questions for reflection: Do you know firsthand the sting of rejection by those closest to you when you have expressed the teachings of Christianity? How can you remain charitable and still hold on to your convictions?
This weekend, we welcome Fr. Art Purcaro, OSA who will be speaking at every Mass about the Augustinian Foreign Missions to Japan and Peru. For info, check out their web page...
