March 2020
We are Open for Business
Welcome to the March edition of the City of Marion’s Open for Business newsletter. Over the past week, we have been celebrating International Women's Day and its theme, Each for Equal.

International Women's Day provides an important opportunity to celebrate women's achievements and our Southern Business Mentoring Program is no exception. We have three fantastic female advisors in Fiona Blinco, Evelyn Pollard and Amanda Wood.

If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the women in the Economic Development team; you will find our contact details at the bottom of the newsletter!
Revitalisation of the Edwardstown Precinct
Cooler, Greener Edwardstown
Marion Council will begin planting 100 mature trees, installing 75 tree inlets and educational signs as part of a plan to revitalise the area.

The Edwardstown Green Infrastructure Project seeks to improve the appearance of streets and provide shade and habitat for wildlife while reducing the impact of heat.

Work will be undertaken on Woodlands Terrace, Furness Avenue, Deloraine Road, Dunorlan Avenue and adjoining streets.

The project will cost $169,964. Council is funding 50 per cent of work, and the State Government the balance with a grant from the Department of Environment and Water.
Solar Shaded Car Park at
Castle Plaza
Vicinity Centres have installed a 548kWh Sungrow Samsung storage battery at their Castle Plaza shopping centre. This was an Australian retail industry first and undertaken as part of Vicinity’s $73million investment in renewable energy initiatives across Australia.

Castle Plaza is a great test site due to several factors including centre size, the large solar array installed on the roof and in the car park, an upgraded behind the meter network, a strong network connection and existing building management system. Combined, these elements allow Vicinity to test and learn from the connected energy platform which helps inform other renewable energy decisions for the business.
Reporting local issues is a snap
Cleaning up Edwardstown is a snap with the Snap Send Solve app. Download the app to easily and efficiently notify us of issues in the community.

Report grafitti, vandalism, broken footpaths, broken benches, dumped rubbish and trip hazards direct to Council.
