Cedar Mill Flood Remediation hosts open house
An open house on flood mitigation efforts being considered by the Cedar Mill Flood Remediation Collaborative will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 1, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 12405 SW Butner Road.
Cedar Mill Creek and its major tributary, North Johnson Creek, drain a forested watershed on the west side of the West Hills, mostly in Washington County. Because much of the watershed has been converted to urban uses, stormwater runoff has resulted in deep ravines at the headwaters, erosion in the middle-reach and flooding in the lower basin of the watershed where the two creeks converge. The collaborative has developed potential approaches to mitigate flooding using existing data and input collected from the greater community.
The collaborative will draft a Declaration of Cooperation to establish a road map that agencies will follow to prioritize and fund projects to help reduce flooding impacts over time. Public comment is needed. Learn more
