OLLI Winter 2020 Online Registration Tips

It's coming!  On Monday, October 28, the Winter 2020 OLLI brochure will be posted online and dropped at local post offices to be mailed.

You may choose to mail your registration in, attend our final Registration Social, or go online.  You can mail your registration at anytime.  The social will be held on November 6 from 8:00 -10:00 a.m.  Online registration will open at 11:00 a.m., the same time staff will begin processing forms received via mail and at the social.

If you choose online registration, the link will be available on OLLI's homepage at 11:00 a.m.

To learn more about how to register online, please review our step-by-step illustrated instructions:  OLLI Online Registration Instructions

Please keep the following tips in mind for online registration:
  • If a couple is registering together, they must sign up individually, but they CAN use the same email

  • If you register two people on the same computer, after the first person has completed their registration,  it may say "An incomplete registration was detected."  If this occurs, you will need to select "restart this registration," which allows a new page to come up for the second registrant.

  • After the Welcome page, you will begin registration with OLLI classes.  You must select EITHER "OLLI Class Fee" OR "I do not wish to register for classes at this time" to move to the next page.

  • Before you enter your personal information on the Registrant Info page, you must select the button for the $5 Quarterly Membership Fee.

  • Double check your summary carefully noting the amount owed, especially if you plan to send a check.

  • At the end of the summary page you must check the box at the bottom "I agree."

  • If you need to go back a page during your registration to change or edit something, hit the red BACK button, not your browser button (see the image below).

  • If you have questions or concerns, please email Continuing Education staff at [email protected].

OLLI Insider:
Your Questions Answered

Dear OLLI Insider,

I'd like to register for a trip with my husband, but want to take advantage of OLLI's online registsration.  How do husbands and wives and friends attempt to get trips together?

Signed,
Tammy Trips Together

Dea r Tammy Trips Together,

That is a great question!  We have always had to enter participants one at a time, so even with our registration social, we would many times have one spouse on a trip and one on the waitlist.  This new online registration procedure will be similar.

Assuming you have just one computer (like most of us), you'll need to register one at a time.  FYI - when your husband registers after you, he may see the words "an incomplete registration was detected."  Please make sure he selected the choice "restart registration" and he'll be on his way.

If one spouse gets on a trip and one does not, we suggest placing the second spouse on the waitlist - he or she will be at the top of the list to be called when we have one of our very frequent cancellations.

I know this probably doesn't sound like a perfect solution, but it has been working for many years.  If you change your mind in the next day or two after you register, call our office at (309) 677-3900 and we'll help you!

Sincerely,
OLLI Insider

National Whistleblower Center Announces Research Partnership with Bradley

The National Whistleblower Center, the nation's leading nonprofit advocating for whistleblowers and against corruption, has established a research partnership with the Center for Cybersecurity at Bradley University.  Through this partnership, an academic research working group has been created to facilitate and promote enhanced whistleblower anonymity.

Dr. Jacob Young, who has studied whistleblowing systems since 2013, has agreed to serve as the Senior Advisor on Cybersecurity for the National Whistleblower Center.  In this role, he will manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary research team focused on protecting whistleblowers from retaliation.  The team's findings will inform legislation and practice through the National Whistleblower Center.  Additionally, Dr. Young serves as Director of the Bradley University Center for Cybersecurity.

John Kostyack, Executive Director of the National Whistleblower Center, said, "We are excited about this new partnership with Bradley University's Center for Cybersecurity. By working with Dr. Young and his team, the National Whistleblower Center will be better positioned to educate whistleblowers about how to remain anonymous when blowing the whistle and government whistleblower programs about necessary updates to the guidance they provide whistleblowers.
