Through SOS's Maternal and Child Health Program, we are sending shipments across Africa that will provide this type of community-led support.
Our most recent container shipment to Sierra Leone supported the opening of the
Kambia H.O.P.E. Center. The goals of the H.O.P.E. (Health, Opportunities, Progress and Education) Center are to reduce maternal mortality, provide prenatal care for pregnant women and provide postnatal care for mothers and newborns.
While preparing this shipment, SOS hosted a
Sip & Sort where Louisville's leading women wrote notes of encouragement to the young girls of Sierra Leone that were included on the container. This week we received thank you letters from the girls and as our team read through over 50 hand written notes, it was a powerful reminder of the ultimate goals of our work. These young women were not only thanking the SOS team and the women who wrote them notes, but also thanking every volunteer and donor who has committed their time to SOS.
