"The Roots of Christian Mysticism"
On Sunday, July 14th, we will start to explore a new topic on Sunday mornings at 9:00, "The Roots of Christian Mysticism."

The word mystic is often misunderstood, because it's thrown around loosely. Some think it's a myth. Many people think that only a few are gifted with mystical experiences or powers, but mysticism is an art, a practice, a discipline that can be pursued by anyone willing to devote themselves to a life path that leads to a deeper union with the Mystery of God.

We'll begin with the pre-Christian origins of mysticism, look at its biblical basis, and specific notable mystics of the Church. Practical instruction will be given as well.

Taught by Father Michael, this course will last for several weeks.

Reflections is looking for a keyboard player
Could this be you? Or, perhaps you know someone who would like to be a part of our ensemble.

Reflections provides contemporary Christian music for the Saturday 5:30 service. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30.

Please contact Jon Jacoby at 254-0090 for more information.

The Gospel of Luke
On Wednesday, July 10th, we will start a new book of the Bible, The Gospel of Luke, our parish's patron saint.

We meet in Board Hall from 9:45 - 11:00 and start by reading aloud the chapter of the week.  Then Father Michael offers a brief overview, picking out some of the more puzzling parts to ponder, and we spend about 40 minutes discussing the chapter, including life lessons that we can learn from it.

This a wonderful way to grow deeper in faith, and Luke's gospel is a gorgeous, rich story of the birth, life, death, and resurrection Jesus.  Hope to see you there .

HomeLife Event Calendar
I am happy to compile events going on in the lives of our parishioners that they would like for other parishioners to support/attend, such as musical recitals, sporting events, business openings, craft shows, horse shows, etc. For example, if I had a booth at the Cherokee Art Festival and wanted everyone to support me, that could be something we could add to the weekly email, bulletin and/or website.

Hope this explains what I am trying to do. People can send their events to me at [email protected] and I can get them to you. Thanks! Shaun McEntire.

St. Luke's Book Club
YOU ARE INVITED to St Luke's Book Club on July 17 at 7:00. Our book selection for July is  Where the Crawdads Sing. This is the first novel written by awarded wildlife scientist, Delia Owens.

This lyrical story is at once a murder mystery, a survival and coming of age narrative, and a celebration of the coastal marshlands of North Carolina.

MEETING INFO: Lyman House, April 17, THIRD (3rd) Wednesday monthly at 7:00 PM for 2+- hours of rousing conversations and introductions to books of almost every genre. At the end of each meeting, we discuss books for the next month's selection, so bring your suggestions with you. We invite you to join us!

REFLECTIONS SPECIAL GOSPEL MUSIC SERVICE SET FOR SATURDAY, JULY 2OTH AT 5:30
Last year Reflections held a special gospel 5:30 Saturday service for a number of folks who enjoyed hearing and singing this music. On Saturday, July 20th, we will once again be doing what we call, "not your normal gospel songfest". In addition to some of the standard gospel classics, we will also be presenting some spiritual numbers, as well as those songs that you will recognize, but with a different beat. All songs will be printed in the program, making it easy to follow along with us.

As with any good old- fashioned gospel tradition, Reflections will be offering some good old- fashioned food and beverages immediately after the service. This is a great opportunity to bring along a friend or family member with you to share in the fun, food and different rhythms.

Coming up on Saturday, September 21st, Reflections will be holding a special 5:30 "Favorite Folk Song Service". More information will be forthcoming about this popular service which brings back those memories of , "where you were when you heard this tune !!!"
