From our CMG Chair Vince DiRaddo
At the March 7th Career Management Group (CMG) breakfast, Marilynn Graves (MJG Insights) presented an insightful and thought-provoking session on "Leading with Emotional Intelligence." The World Economic Forum projects that in 2020 Emotional Intelligence (EI) will be in the top ten in-demand skills. Marilynn stated that EI can be a significant differentiator for those in transition, in a full-time career role, as a consultant, and finally in a Board of Directors position. Of the six elements of Emotional Intelligence, Self-Management is very important. Additional topics covered included EI myths, social events threats and rewards, and an exercise to identify how working for the best and the worst supervisor impacts discretionary effort at work. In summary, Emotional Intelligence can have a significant effect on success or failure in both the work environment and in social circles.
