Fasting, Almsgiving and Prayer took on deeper meaning this Lent. I'm not sure any of us ever thought we would be fasting from social interaction and that the fasting would lead us to more almsgiving in the sense of reaching out to our immediate neighbors in need. And praying? Who doesn't say a prayer every day as we face the challenges of this Covid 19.

But as we approach the great feast of Easter, I believe this Lenten season has also sharpened our vision to see what we are truly grateful for - our family and friends, our health, our employment and our social interaction!

Easter is God's blessing to the world. It is His way of telling us that love and hope still exists in the world. May Christ's glory and the promise of this joyous time of year bring peace and happiness to you and those you hold most dear.

Happy Easter!

May God bless you and your families.

Signs Of Spring

As part of a science assignment, Mrs. McQuade's 5th grade students were instructed to go outside and see if they could find signs of spring. It sure looks like spring is on the way!

And as part of a religion assignment, Mrs. Senecal's 5th grade students were asked take 15 minutes to go outside and observe what they saw and then write a poem or reflection thanking God.

Here is a compilation of their efforts!

When I was outside I saw birds flying around a squirrel and I saw some flowers in my front yard and some trees.
The birds were flying around, squirrels were eating from my trash can, the flowers were starting to come out of the ground and the trees were beginning to grow leaves.
I cant wait to see what it looks like when fall is fully here.
Thank you God for giving me all of these things and thank you for taking care of me and my family.
By Gavin

Thanks to God!
I hear the neighbors talking and the birds chirping.
I hear the woodpeckers pecking and see the squirrels running.
I see the plants growing and the leaves falling.
I feel the wind as it blows by me.
It's the small things in life that make us smile!

This afternoon while I walked my dog I saw flowers blossoming, birds finding items to build their nests, and leaves growing on the trees. I thought to myself how God makes the world so beautiful by what he made. Spring is one of my favorite seasons because of all the flowers blooming and the baby birds hatching. Nature has its own course and it is a beautiful course that it goes through in our world that changes my life with how I see my world around me. Thanks to the people who take care of the flowers and the nature on their lawns, people can enjoy the sight of winter going into spring. Thank you God for making spring such a beautiful time of the year and for creating people who take care of the flowers, grass, and gardens on their property.

God thank you for the life you gave me in this world.
I am writing this for you to thank you.
We thank you for the beautiful smell from the flowers that you gave us.
We thank you for the air we breathe.
Thank you for the cute beautiful animals you gave us.
We love you.

As I was walking in the glimmering sun, I saw something flying above! It was a hawk, as mighty as can be.  As it landed I noticed a stray cat walking across the street. I made a noise to get it's attention because I knew the cat's owner, but it just looked at me and ran away. I was walking around my yard and decided to lay down and listen to the noises, the noises I heard were, birds chirping, cars going by on my street, cars speeding by on the main road by my street. *Click!* I'm taking a picture of beautiful flowers that started to bloom! As I check my watch I have 5 minutes left. I found a peaceful spot and said, " Dear God, thank you for all this life you gave me, and everyone. I wish people treated your creation, Earth, better. I'm trying my best to pick up litter, and save animals. Help me to make others do that too instead of littering or hurting animals, Amen.

I was looking out my window this morning and this is what I saw and heard.  I saw flowers, many trees with no leaves, a red cardinal and heard chirping, squirrels running around, some sun, and a lot of clouds. The flowers were green stems with buds, but there was one tree with yellow flowers on it. I asked my mom what it was called, and she told me it was a Forsythia Hedge.  I saw a really red cardinal on the tree right outside the window and it was really red. I took a picture of it. The squirrels were digging on the mulch and the sky looked cloudy and cold with the sun trying to peek through. I thank God for all the beautiful things we have because I don't take the time to look at these things.

THE EARTH GOD CREATED
I walk on the ground God made and I
Breath in the fresh air
I listen to the birds chirp
I see the bunnies bouncing
I see all 3 Maple Trees beginning to bud
I see my 1 Dogwood tree
THANK YOU GOD!

O Lord O Lord, God I see the wonderful creations,
Birds flying like an airplane,
Flowers growing, like us growing every day,
Trees gaining leaves like us gaining strength,
Cars running to their goals like us running into our goal to heaven,
Dogs walking like a person,
O Lord God, what beautiful creations you made,

As part of their computer lab assignment, the students in 5B were asked to visit  a -z animals.com and choose an animal. Using Padlet.com (an online "bulletin board") they had to type their name and the name of the animal they chose on the post. They also had to include a picture, the color of the animal, its skin type, what it eats, its size, and any other fun facts about their animal as well.
