NOVEMBER NEWS
2018
Dear Friend of MCF,

It's so important to contemplate what we are thankful for this time of year.  Here at MCF, we are particularly thankful for our donors that make it possible to enjoy the wind in the trees and rustling of leaves along the trail.  We hope you can find some time to enjoy nature in the parks this November. These are the places that your support makes possible and we are forever grateful!

Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!

Monmouth Conservation Foundation remains your land trust dedicated to saving open space, creating parks, preserving farmland, safeguarding waterways, teaching environmental sustainability, and protecting wildlife.

Sincerely,

William D. Kastning, AICP
Executive Director

More Than Just a Meadow - One Woman's Path to Preservation

Valerie Montecalvo, founder of Bayshore Recycling Corp and Monmouth Conservation Foundation trustee, has transformed the Spy Hill property in Middletown, New Jersey into a buzzing pollinator meadow.

Read more about how Valerie's passion for conservation inspired her to forego another green lawn in favor of a vibrant native plant meadow that an abundance of wildlife call home.  Click Here to Read More.

Join us at the Navesink Challenge -  Run for Your Health and Support Conservation Education

Each year the Navesink Challenge 15k and 5k run is held the Sunday after Thanksgiving through the beautiful preserved lands in the Navesink Highlands area of Middletown.  Beyond running off some of the gravy and pumpkin pie, the event provides critical support to education and community outreach programs offered through MCF.  A significant portion of proceeds from your registration supports our program work, thereby allowing MCF to teach sustainability and conservation to kids and to offer nature activities to community members of all ages.

We need volunteers for the event.  If you have time on the morning of Sunday, 11/25 to lend a hand, please contact the office at (732) 671-7000.

Plastics and Other Recycling - Should it Stay or Should it Go?

Do you ever find yourself standing by the recycling bin wondering if that container you want to throw away can be recycled or not?  If so, you are not alone. Many of us are not clear on what exactly is recyclable and with all that holiday entertaining upon us, we want to make sure you are making the right recycling choices.
