Dear Friend,
Crime dropped again in 2018 in areas served by the Polk County Sheriff's Office; it's down 5.9% from the year before, with 415 fewer crimes.
The crime rate is 1.52 crimes per every 100 people. These statistics began being tracked reliably in 1971, and right now, crime has never been lower in the county.
I'm proud of the men and women who work at the Polk County Sheriff's Office, but the truth is, we can't take all of the credit. The people we serve are a tremendous asset to us. If people don't say something when they see something, our jobs become much more difficult. So please, keep reporting crimes and suspicious incidents, and your assistance with tips, even if they're done anonymously, it helps tremendously.
Support your legislators who want to remain tough on crime. Some lawmakers want to weaken punishments and restrictions on the criminals. Our quality of life depends on our ability to lock up the ones who prey on the innocent.
Sincerely,
Grady Judd, Sheriff
