Thank you!
Gene Johnson, Board Director Emeritus, and Robert F. Smith delivered a batch of Doopalpoops to the Clubs. These hand puppets are part of Robert's campaign, The Kindness Walk, where he is trying to deliver 1,000 smiles by donating 1,000 puppets to local charities.

Thank you Carnival Cruise Line! They treated over 75 of our members to a Dr. Seuss Day on one of their ships. Members enjoyed a story read by Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, Kik é  Hern á ndez, a Seuss-themed buffet lunch (which included green eggs and ham) and more. Carnival topped off the day by donating $10,000 to the Clubs!

Power Crunch athletes stopped by Holmes & McKinley to surprise them with a huge obstacle course!

We had over 100 students participate in this 2 hour exercise course!

The sun doesn't stop the fun! Members from all of our Club sites took a trip to the Los Angeles Zoo and had an amazing time!

Not only did our kids learn about many animals and how they live, they also were honored to be able to feed giraffes! Your support has made these incentives possible!

A huge thank you to Ground Education who has continued to teach our Club kids the importance of growing and properly harvesting crops!

California State University Dominguez Hills will be coming in twice a week to interact with our teens and provide programs & mentoring.

On their first visit, CSUDH students enjoyed getting to know our members!

Brent's Club
Some teens from our Brent's Club (drug prevention program) took a trip to BGC Malibu where they participated in an interactive workshop. They were taught the elements of Hip Hop, including DJing, emceeing, and break-dancing by watching demonstrations from professional B-boys.

Club News
In honor of Firefighter David Rosa, who was recently killed in the line of duty, students gathered and created a banner for his family to show their support.

Also,  the Clubs celebrated Spirit Week, with each day having a special theme!

Jon Cicchetti, one of the creating artists of Signal Hill's Hilltop Park's art piece "Earth Upon Water," took our photography students on a personal tour of the masterpiece.

As an incentive, our Club kids had the opportunity to go and learn to sail!

Members are trying to stay cool with this wonderful summer weather by having water balloon parties!

Club kids walked over to the park and took a dip in the pool. There is no better way to beat the heat than going for a swim!

During enrichment, members were split into groups and were challenged to see who could build the tallest tower. Each group was given the same amount of supplies and the towers had to stand up on their own with no help.

Mid-month, students made straw rockets and tested them to see whose went the farthest.

As a team building activity, students were challenged to make a cup tower without the use of their hands. Members had a blast cooperating towards completing the task.

Students also took a trip to the local park!

Our members had a blast going out and getting active!

Club kids expressed themselves through art in many different ways this month!

After an informative lesson on what causes stress and how to cope with it, our members picked up some paint and crayons and de-stressed with some art.
