GCP Annual Meeting
The Greene County Partnership hosted the 2019 Annual Meeting and Celebration March 12 th at The General Morgan Inn and Conference Center. Bob Leonard, 2018 chairman of the board, Jennifer Keller, 2019 chairwoman of the board, and Matt Garland, GCP President & CEO addressed over 120 attendees sharing the organization’s success from the 2018 calendar year. Leonard, Keller, and Garland thanked those who have supported the Greene County Partnership and it’s many programs.  

Mrs. Keller presented the awards of the night. Andrew Johnson Bank was recognized for their lengthy history of support by being named Business of the Year. Mr. Jeff Hollett, local businessman and community volunteer, took home honors as Champion of the Year.

Self-Defense Class
March 21 st marked the finish of our four week Self-Defense class aimed at arming those who participated with the personal skills to defend themselves from harm. A special thank you to the Greeneville Police Department, Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Greene County YMCA for their instruction and facility. Legislative Breakfast
More than 100 people attended the Annual Legislative Breakfast March 22 at the General Morgan Inn & Conference Center. Special thanks to Summers Taylor, Inc. for sponsoring the event.







Leadership Greene County
The Leadership Greene County class traveled to Nashville March 19-20 to observe the state legislature in action and learn more about the inner workings of the government. Businesses interested in nominating a candidate for the 2019-20 class should contact Jennifer Wilder at
423-638-4111. The deadline for nominations is May 31.
Space is available for the Member Emailing! The deadline to submit a one-page PDF file is Friday, April 19, and the cost is $50. This is a great opportunity to market your products or businesses. Contact Lori Dowell at the Partnership for more information.

Golf Shoot-Out
Mark your calendars now ... The Partnership's Annual Golf Shoot-Out 2019 date has been set. The tournament will be held September 19 at  Link Hills County Club .

Keep Greene Beautiful
KGB Community Cleanup, April 12-14
Join Keep Greene Beautiful for a community cleanup April 12-14.  To bring awareness to the local litter collection efforts and to inspire others to join, participants are asked to share before and after pictures of their cleanup project to the Greene County Partnership’s Facebook page with the hashtag #cleanupgreene. The group that collects the most trash during the community weekend will be awarded $50 for their organization. Individuals are encouraged to participate as well with the top individual being awarded a prize. Trash bags and latex gloves are available for participating groups and can be picked up at the Partnership office. Local sponsors are Greene County Farm Bureau- Trey Youngblood, John Deere Power Products and Scepter Greeneville, Inc. Call 638-4111 for more information.
Swing Into Spring Golf Tournament
April 11 th
Teams are still available for the tournament. Lunch, dinner, cart and green fees are included in a team sponsorship for $400. The tournament will be held at Link Hills Country Club with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The deadline to sign up players is April 9. Call Keep Greene Beautiful for more information or to sign up your team.
Free Electronic Recycling Day
A “Free Electronic Recycling Day will be held Friday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Walmart Supercenter. Visit www.keepgreenebeautiful.com for a list of items accepted.

Tourism
Antique Appraisal Fair
The 2019 Antique Appraisal Fair and Show was a success with 35 total antique dealers selling their treasures and 440 items appraised. Guests came from as far away as KY and GA to enjoy the event. The Tourism Department and the Appraisal Fair Committee would like to thank our sponsors; The Greeneville City Schools, The Greeneville Sun, WGRV, Back Porch Antiques, Corley’s Pharmacy, Express Wine & Spirits, K-VA-T Food Stores, MECO, Pinnacle Home Improvements, Print Distribution Services, Rodefer Moss & Co., and Sam’s Club #8222. Thanks also goes out to all the local businesses that donated items for door prizes and for the concession stand. The committee is meeting on Friday, March 29 to set the date for 2020. If you would like more information on the event, please contact Tammy Kinser .  
NJCAADIII World Series
The Sports Council is gearing up for another big year for the National Junior College World Series coming up May 24-30. The event will kick off with a Kids’ Day at the Ball Park featuring FREE hot dogs, chips and drinks furnished by Grand Rental Station and Nathan’s Concrete. This event is open to all kids ages 14 & under to come and enjoy the food, meeting championship players and getting autographs. If you have a group that would like to attend, please call ahead with total numbers. The awards banquet will take place the evening of May 24 and world series play will begin on Saturday morning at Pioneer Field on the campus of Tusculum University. If you would like to sponsor this event, would like to volunteer, or donate for the goody bags, please contact Tammy Kinser at the Partnership. Tournament passes go on sale soon.

Healthier Tennessee Bronze Designation
G reene County received Healthier Tennessee Bronze Level Designation from the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness during the Inaugural Healthier Tennessee Communities Awards Gala that was held February 21 st at Graystone Quarry in Franklin, TN. Greene County received their official designation as a bronze level community at the celebration. Community health initiatives and workplace wellness were among the focus of the special awards with the Town of Greeneville being presented with the Workplace Wellness Award. Congratulations to all who are working together for a healthier Tennessee! For more information on the local efforts, check out:
