A Wrinkle... In Time

A Note From Pastor Linda

"Teach us to number our days, so that we may truly live and achieve wisdom."
~Psalm 90:12

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Faith- both young and old!

Wrinkles- also known as a rhytide, is a fold, ridge or crease in the skin; skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of aging processes. This week the morning headlines have read: More 20-Somethings Turning to Botox for Anti-Aging

Should this be concerning to me? Maybe... and maybe not. And then I look in the mirror and see signs of aging in my face- and all over my body. I am beginning to see signs of my mom, how her skin changed as she aged. I used to fight this (using all kinds of lotions and potions, concealers and powders); but now I am learning to embrace it. I used to be sad (sometimes mad!) that my skin didn't look like my daughter's; but now I am learning to embrace it.

Aging is part of LIFE!
From Proverbs 16: Gray hair is a sign of honor... (OK, I still use a bit of coloring tints to help hide the gray.)
Consider this: The more years we live, the more experiences we are given to learn from, and the more wisdom and perspective we gain to see life in new and beautiful ways. While the media leads us to believe that youth has more value, the truth is we are valued by God at every age!

I learned this about wrinkles: age wrinkling in the skin is promoted by habitual facial expressions- and so let those expressions be of GREAT JOY in being a Child of God- deeply loved and highly valued!!

Here is my wisdom for you today. If Botox or creams and concealers or hair coloring help you live abundantly- then do it! But know this greater truth:

Aging is part of LIFE! Aging is BEAUTIFUL! Aging is a GIFT from God!

Living Life Together,

 ~Pastor Linda

Everyone knows a whole new world opens up for families when a child receives their driver's license. New expectations, new privileges, new freedoms, and new worries all come into play.  What better time to come together as a family to talk through the new expectations and privileges, as well as to pray and ask for guidance.
