The DeWitt C. Baldwin Jr. Award, in its fourth year, is presented by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and The Arnold P. Gold Foundation to recognize institutions with accredited residency/fellowship programs that are exemplary in fostering a respectful, supportive environment. The 2019 recipients are :

Henry Ford Hospital | Detroit, Michigan
UMass Memorial Medical Center | Worcester, Massachusetts
Middlesex Health | Middletown, Connecticut

About Dr. DeWitt "Bud" Baldwin Jr.
The ACGME and Gold Foundation DeWitt (Bud) C. Baldwin, Jr. Award is named for an icon in graduate medical education and a pioneer in interprofessional education. Dr. Baldwin has long championed humanism in medicine, in his tenure as Scholar in Residence at ACGME and decades before, and we are delighted that this award carries his name and his belief in the importance of humanism.
For the first time, our community of humanism supporters will gather together. Whether you are a Gold Humanism Honor Society member, a physician or nurse who actively cares for patients with compassion and encourages your team, a researcher who has studied humanism in medicine, a healthcare executive who wants to infuse humanism into your business and culture, or a nursing or medical student beginning your path — this gathering is for you.

The Gold Humanism Summit will be held at the 2019 Planetree International Conference on Person-Centered Care in Orlando, Florida.
 
Every Planetree attendee will be able to attend Gold sessions, and every Gold attendee will be able to attend Planetree sessions.
 
The Gold Humanism Summit will also feature bonus tracks for specialized groups: a pre-conference gathering for Gold Humanism Honor Society members and Mapping the Landscape grantees ( the MTL and GHHS Symposium ) and a one-day Gold Executive Leadership Track for healthcare leaders passionate about leading the way in infusing humanism into their company culture and care of patients and clients.

We will honor three individuals with the 2019 National Humanism in Medicine Medal: entrepreneur, community activist and internationally recognized patient advocate  Elaine Adler; bestselling author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, and social critic  Anna Quindlen; and eminent professor, physician and leader in medical education  Dr.  George Thibault.
