2018 Fundraiser - Thank You!
Thanks to the generosity of so many of our supporters, we have exceeded our end-of-year fundraising goal for 2018!
In just 6 weeks, we raised over $16,000 to support the critical programs and services that our seniors rely on every single day.
In 2019, we will continue to fight these challenges by providing NYC seniors with healthy meals, social service assistance, and meaningful opportunities to learn, create, and socialize.  Here's to another year of serving NYC seniors together!

Exclusive Gallery Pre-Reception
It was a fashionable and festive evening on January 10th at the Carter Burden Gallery in Chelsea, where members of the interior design and fashion industries attended an exclusive pre-reception in advance of the opening of three new exhibitions featuring: Ted Thirlby and Eve Eisenstadt curated by Charles Ramburg; Robin Rule and Susant Tunick; and Roz Dimon and Sara Petitt. (Exhibition runs through February 6).

Our guests were delighted to meet the exhibiting artists and learn more about the Carter Burden Gallery's mission to combat ageism in the arts. We welcome all to visit our gallery located at 548 West 28th Street in Chelsea.

You can view current and upcoming exhibitions at www.carterburdengallery.org. The space is also available for rent for events and all proceeds support our mission. Learn more at: https://www.carterburdennetwork.org/rent-our-space.
Seniors at the Roosevelt Island Senior Center's Thanksgiving Luncheon.
Thanksgiving at CBN
CBN's 4 senior centers held festive Thanksgiving luncheons for their members that included gourmet meals, raffles, performances, and gorgeous centerpieces generously donated by CBN Board Member Sally Bott.

Our Roosevelt Island Senior Center held their luncheon in collaboration with the Roosevelt Island Disabled Association. Volunteers served close to 80 meals at the center and also delivered to homebound seniors on the Island.

New York State Caregiver Guide Launch Event
The New York State Department of Health's Caregiver Guide was launched on December 19 at the Carter Burden Gallery in Chelsea.

The free, 140-page guide is a valuable resource designed to help caregivers plan for the needs of the person they support, while also taking care of themselves. It describes the various types of care available in New York State, provides contact information for important resources and explains legal issues that commonly impact caregivers and the people they support.

2018 Gala - Celebrating 47 Years
On November 5th, we celebrated 47 years of fighting isolation with love and belonging at our 2018 Gala. A huge thanks to our generous supporters and all those who had a part in making the evening a success, including a group of CBN seniors who put on a fabulous mini-fashion show for our guests!  Together we raised over $650,000 for aging New Yorkers.
Congratulations to our Business Leadership Honoree, the Glick Family/GPG Properties. Thank you for your steadfast support of our mission and for being a part of our caring community that enriches the lives of older New Yorkers.

Carter Burden Luncheon Club Annual Fashion Show
In October, the Carter Burden Luncheon Club on the Upper East Side hosted one of its most anticipated events of the year.

Dozens of senior citizens took to the red carpet runway and rocked the house at the 16th Annual Fashion Show. The fashionistas were dressed to the nines modeling creative, colorful ensembles including formal wear, jewelry and accessories, some  of which were generously donated by Macy's.
Jesus Rivera
CBN Participant Spotlight
Meet Jesus Rivera who is 69 years old. He joined CBN's Covello center in the spring of 2016. Since joining the program, Jesus has been able to develop friendships and ties to the East Harlem community. He is an active member who participates in our congregate meal program as well as other services, including the Social Service Unit (SSU) which assists members in accessing critical benefits and resources.

Jesus shared with the SSU that he recently relocated to a new apartment. While he was thrilled to have his own affordable and private space, he needed assistance furnishing the apartment. The SSU staff sprang into action and applied for two small anonymous grants on his behalf. Within days, the unit received the news that Jesus received two grants to assist him in the purchase of a living room couch and a small coffee table.

Jesus expressed his appreciation stating, "The furniture makes my apartment feel like a home. I am able to invite friends and family to my home. I can spend quality time here. I am thankful."
Lehman Village seniors, joined by center Director Antoinette Davidson and Marlee Mateo from Macquarie's IT Department, trying out their new laptops.
New Computers (and Training) for Lehman Village Seniors
Macquarie Group, one of our generous corporate partners, graciously donated 5 much-needed top-of-the-line laptops to CBN. They visited our Lehman Village center in East Harlem to drop them off and help set them up.

Thanks to these new computers, Lehman seniors have been able to participate in the OATS (Older Adults Technology Services) computer training program. The first class at Lehman graduated in December! Congratulations to all of our graduates.
