May is an exciting month as we prepare for Field Day (June 5, 7,8). Children practice sack races, target throws, relay races and obstacle courses in our gym. Field Day is a great opportunity to demonstrate and incorporate the skills we are working on all year. Some skills you cold work on at home include: - Sack Races: Have your child hop while standing in an old pillowcase - Jumping for distance using two feet - Using a spray bottle: hold a small spray bottle with water to clean shaving cream off a tub. Many need some help to learn how to hold the bottle and press the sprayer. Parents - please volunteer!!! Volunteers are needed to help set up activities during field day. The activities are set up between classes and during play. If you could volunteer to set up at 8:30 or anytime during the day up until breakdown at 3:00, I would be so grateful. Please email Susan Cali at SusanC2@niskids.org to schedule your spot. I hope you can come and enjoy Field Day with your child. Notification of your child's schedule will be sent home soon! Thanks & Enjoy! Mary |
