What's Up at REX 
Hosted Michelle Riordan-Nold from the Connecticut Data Collaborative at our monthly REDFO (Regional Economic Development Forum) meeting.  
 
Represented the region with the Town of Branford and Elm City Innovation Collaborative at 2018 BIO International Convention in Boston. Click here to see our slideshow.   
 
Hosted a regional brochure swap at the Hampton Inn - West Haven. Collateral was shared among local hotels and attractions, as well as CTM (NYC metro) and State of Connecticut for broader distribution.
 
Promoted attractions at Metro-North Getaway Day and at the Orange Expo.  
 
Group Tour Magazine published an article promoting attractions for tour and group operators (pg. 49). 
 
Coordinated a presentation to the Connecticut Lodging Association on the new tourism certificate program at the University of New Haven. This program was created through a collaboration between Workforce Alliance and the University of New Haven.  

Woodrbridge's UCAN to Expand Its Product Portfolio with New Round of Financing
The UCAN Company, a manufacturer and distributor of nutrition products powered by SuperStarch, a patented, slow-release energy source, announced that it has completed a new round of financing to propel its growth in endurance sports and with active lifestyle consumers. eighteen94 capital, the venture capital fund of Kellogg Company, led the $5.75 million Series D funding of The UCAN Company and S2G Ventures also invested in the round.  Simon Burton, managing director of eighteen94 capital, will join UCAN's board of directors. Union Station in New Haven Commuters Head to Work With Hartford Line's First Daily Rail Service 
State residents flocked to stations over the weekend for free trial rides, but the hectic weekend gave way to a modest Monday morning as the line's bread and butter - workers headed to Hartford or New Haven and beyond - began their commutes.

Commuter traffic was light, but those standing on station platforms were excited about the new option. Trains bound for New Haven were delayed by a few minutes, but the Hartford-bound trains from the south were mostly on schedule. Read More
