THINGS WE LOVE . . .
This month we want to talk about the difference between a Butler's Pantry and a Scullery Kitchen. Here are a couple selections we love when it comes to finishing this space.
Artistry Microban
Flooring
Microban might be a term that is unfamiliar to some, but it's becoming a common household term, mostly because this technology is built-in antimicrobial protection that gives flooring an added level of protection against microbes such as stain and odor causing bacteria. Microban technology inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew on household products, keeping your home cleaner and reducing odors. Not only does it add that extra level of protection, but it also makes products easier to clean and keeps them cleaner between cleanings.
Hubbardton Forge
Lighting
Considering lighting in your Scullery or Butler's kitchen should be a first priority. It is a relatively small space so it's important to make your lighting choices accordingly. Hubbardton Forge is one of the country's oldest and largest continuously operating commercial forges today. They have big ideas and a passion for design. They also have respect for high-quality craftsmanship and belief in the importance of tradition. Multiple hands touch any piece leaving their forge throughout the process of its creation. When you look at a Hubbardton Forge lighting fixture, you see the artistic achievements of a team dedicated to design. Their family of artisans combine traditional craft knowledge with modern techniques and one-of-a-kind tools they've created to give you a piece of history that holds enduring value.
IDEAS WE'VE HAD . . .
Picking out elements to put in your Butler's Pantry or your Scullery Kitchen can be difficult because it is easy to think of it as a space that no one sees. It is just as important if not more important to pick out the right elements for this space as it is for your main kitchen space.
Richards and Sterling
Tile
Started in 1985 with a desire to bring a unique selection of Tile & Stone products to the West Coast, Richards & Sterling continues to evolve as a high-value provider of premium imported Ceramic and Porcelain Tile, Natural Stone, Glass, and Metal Tiles. They strive to feature and keep updated stock of exclusive products from their quality manufacturers that will bring a uniqueness to any project. In addition to their beautiful products, they strive to give their customers the highest level of customer service with their highly efficient daily operations. To this day, they continue as a family owned business dedicated to bringing their customers the selection they have come to expect for years.

Cove Dishwasher
Appliances
Whether you are choosing a Scullery kitchen or a Butler's pantry, deciding if you are going to install a dishwasher can be a big decision. Cove gets the job done. The dishwasher may be your hardest-working appliance, so it should be the most durable. Cove appliances are made in the USA with premium-grade materials and include a five-year warranty. If you are looking to put it in your pantry, it will fit seamlessly with custom handle, cabinetry, and interior configuration options. Cove is built with the same DNA as their trusted Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.
LET'S TALK . . .
Butler's Pantry Vs. Scullery Kitchen

There are a lot of people who use these two terms interchangeably, which isn't completely wrong, but there are some differences, and things to take into consideration if you have decided to put one in your home. We are talking about the two in the blog this month.
Butler's Pantry
 ...a pantry and prep space
We have noticed lately that a Butler's Pantry is higher on the list in most new builds these days. Some people are asking, what is that, and is it right for my home? If you decide, yes, there are some things to think about. Choosing how you will use it is the first step. Will it also serve as your main pantry space? This decision will help you when you are making cabinetry choices. Most Butlers Pantries opt for open shelving for storage and accessibility. Like we talked about previously, lighting is also something to consider. If your Butler's Pantry has an outside wall, consider a window. If not, don't forget about the task lighting because more than likely your Butler's Pantry will be used for workspace. Lastly, add some color. This space does not have to be boring; we repeat, it does not have to be boring! We talk more about the Butler's Pantry in the blog.
Scullery Kitchen
  ...mostly a prep area
Most kitchens today have to function as more than just a place to cook. That is where the Scullery kitchen comes in. Adding one to your kitchen design means the main kitchen can remain functional and easy to cook in, but when things get messy and family or friends are on their way over it can be moved (hidden) in the Scullery kitchen turning your main kitchen area into the social space. A couple keys to a successful Scullery are allocating the area in which you want it, adding a food prep sink, deciding whether or not you want to add any additional appliances, and most of all accessibility and storage.
