A Note from Our Executive Director

Dear Friends:

On the calendar, April is known for many different things. Aside from tax returns, it is most commonly associated with the start of Major League Baseball and an overall theme of renewal. But did you know April 2019 has been designated National Social Security month? In the Second New Deal, the Social Security Act was signed into law by then President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 14, 1935. The act established a foundation for future programs established by Congress with the intent of helping citizens without the necessary means to sustain themselves.

Social Security is an essential government program that so many of our consumers depend upon for their livelihood and their well-being. Our team members frequently help consumers access their benefits and navigate the process of registration and compliance.

For more than four decades, Social Security has helped millions of American secure today and the future with information, tools, resources to meet our changing needs and lifestyles. This recognition on the calendar is the perfect opportunity to encourage all of you to learn more about the program by setting up a mySocialSecurity account by clicking here . It is an easy process to complete and will provide you with a lot of valuable information including:
  • Request a replacement Social Security card
  • Set up or change direct deposit
  • Get a proof of income letter
  • Change your address, if you get benefits
  • Check the status of your Social Security application
  • Get a Social Security 1099 form (SSA-1099)
Thank you, Social Security!

As always, I want to hear your ideas and thoughts and I encourage you to contact me!

Regards,

Rob

CILO invites you to walk with us in PigAbilities
on Saturday, May 4th!

PigAbilities is an option for people of all ages with disabilities who may not wish to participate in a competitive event, but still want to be part of The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend along with their families and friends. This event takes place when there are fewer crowds and easier parking. While there are no timing chips or first place winners, PigAbilities participants should be willing to "go the distance" by making a commitment to enrich their lives through being active and making healthy choices.

On Saturday, May 4th participants will gather for a 1:00PM Start Time and walk, roll or stroll the final mile on the actual Flying Pig Marathon course! At the Finish Line each registered finisher will receive a PigAbilities medal to commemorate their achievement.

Team CILO will meet at 12:30 at a designated spot near the
