Love Blooms:
Along with the blooming lilies and the exploding lilacs come the spring weddings. Even though I know more couples these days choose not to marry and many marriages do not last, I still love going to a wedding. There is something about the leap into life together, the public acknowledgment and celebration of love, the optimism about a future unfolding that inspires me.
This June Paul & I celebrated our 32
nd wedding anniversary, these numbers are getting a bit unreal! Sounds like old people! I know what a blessing it is to have found each other when we were young and to have built a life. a family, a home and a body of work together.
For many of our patients, it’s not so easy, for all kinds of reasons from personality and temperament, to family upbringing, to illness to other life challenges. I hope you’ll enjoy the article below, a few musings about the world of love and partnership through a homeopathic lens.
Here’s to love, in all its manifestations, to knowing oneself and connecting to others in all the ways that we do.

Tying the Knot:
Homeopathic matchmaking? Overcoming the fear of commitment

A few years back, my husband and I were invited to six weddings in one spring. I officiated at one and served as a witness in another; the rest were a mix of friends of our kids and kids of our friends! In all, it was a lovely time of optimism and celebration and spending time with people we love. It got me thinking about the institution of marriage and why there has been an over-all decrease demographically in the number of people tying the knot. There are many reasons for it, including unemployment, underemployment, and a shift in attitudes about independence, cohabitation, and parenting, to name a few. Of course, there are many ways to live a life, and I know plenty of very happy single people.
That said, over the years I have had a number of patients who claim to want to marry, or at very least partner, yet, it doesn’t happen. Some say they have not found the right person, others declare they are just having too much fun to settle down, and still others assert they are not financially stable enough to commit to another person.
And then there’s the group of people who, for whatever reason, seem simply unable to take the next step; they are filled with fear and anxiety even thinking about the idea of actually committing themselves to another person. This is the group I'd like to talk about.

:
This year the clinical classes will focus on patients from latency through age 21. This time of tremendous change and development offers the homeopath a unique opportunity to offer help and support. Some of the challenges of this life phase are typical physical body complaints like atopic dermatitis, asthma, GI complaints, headaches, hypertension, and menstrual issues. And, increasingly we seen teens with issues of anxiety, depression, self-harming, sexual promiscuity, ADHD, drug and alcohol abuse, and educational difficulties who can be helped with homeopathy. We will also venture into the touchy subject of parenting through that time, essential do's and don'ts that you can share with the parents of your teens. We hope you will join us for these two weekends as we take up the study of those Under 21.
