Connecting our Community to the Land
SUPPORT LAND'S SAKE
Expanding and Preparing for a Strong 2021
Even when faced with the challenges the past several months have brought, Land’s Sake has stayed true to its mission: connecting people to the land to build community and inspire lifelong stewardship.
A Letter from our President
This summer, I found myself thinking back to the first time I visited the farm 23 years ago and cut my first bouquet of flowers. It was clear to me then that this was a special place. Even now, when I cut sunflowers or pick up my CSA share or visit the farm stand, I’m always reminded of what an amazing place it is – an oasis that delights and refreshes.
But what made me decide to support Land’s Sake and become active on the Board of Directors was its mission: connecting people to the land to build community and inspire lifelong stewardship.
Even when faced with the challenges the past several months have brought, Land’s Sake has stayed true to its mission.

When confronted with a global pandemic, record heat and drought, and an early frost which killed off many heat-loving crops, our amazing staff found ways to rise above it all.
The farmstand and CSA pickups were reconfigured to minimize contact and provide an open, outdoor shopping experience and changes were made to facilitate a safe farming environment for our farm crew. Drought-resistant crops were planted.
(And the face-masks certainly helped with the dust!) Our team was always ready to pivot and find ways to get fresh, healthy food on your table.

Connecting our children to the land helps build the next generation of leaders who can help protect our environment—it is core to our values at Land’s Sake Farm and it is always a priority.
With an abundance of fresh air and sunshine on our side, our summer youth programs ran at full capacity all season and we have been providing fall programs to local schools.
The launch of our farm-to-table dinners was an overwhelming success and provided the opportunity to support and introduce several local restaurants and their amazing chefs to the Land’s Sake community, connecting even more people to the land.
And, in a time of greatest need, we were able to support local hunger relief organizations through the donation of thousands of pounds of nutritious, locally-grown produce to organizations like Lovin’ Spoonfuls, Food for Free, and the Weston Council on Aging.
Now, as the year comes to a close, we rely on your support to continue our work and prepare for the next season. This is the time of year when we plan our crops and purchase seed. We examine and repair all of our farm equipment, readying it for the spring. We’re planning our educational programs and looking at ways to expand our food distribution for hunger relief.
I look forward to seeing you at the farm at some of our winter activities or this spring as we continue to expand our mission to connect the community to the land. And I hope that, when you visit, you also feel how special this place is.

We couldn’t do any of this without your involvement and support. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Beth Marshdoyle
