Over $53 Million Transferred to BC Communities

The next transfer of allocated funding from the Federal Gas Tax Fund will be distributed to BC local governments over the next 30 days. The Community Works Fund (CWF) is delivered twice annually to all local governments in British Columbia to support local priorities. The current allocation will distribute $53,723,444.47 in federal funding.

Provincial Update on Ride Sharing

Transportation Minister Claire Trevena has announced that the Province will increase the number of taxis throughout the province while easing the way for ride-sharing services by Fall 2019. The Province's direction comes in response to a report and recommendations from industry expert Dan Hara who consulted with industry and stakeholders last fall. Read More

Phase 2 Funding Announced for Connectivity

The Province has announced funding for local governments, internet service providers and community organizations to support and expand high-speed internet access. This round of funding will include two streams: Connectivity Infrastructure Strategy Funding and Last-Mile Project Funding. The Northern Development Initiative Trust will administer both programs. Executive members met on July 11-13, 2018, in Richmond to hold their quarterly Committee and board meetings.
