2018 Scholarships
Two Winn/AAFP recipients announced
Winn Feline Foundation and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) recently announced their joint scholarship recipients for 2018. The two students, each receiving a $2500 scholarship, are chosen for their individual academic achievements, admirable leadership and profound dedication to the study of feline medicine, health and welfare.
Nicole Rowbotham, a third year student at Mississippi State University, was awarded the clinical practice scholarship. Nicole wishes to obtain her ABVP certification in feline practice and become the owner of a feline-exclusive hospital.

Another third year student,Courtney Meason-Smith from Texas A & M University, was awarded the clinical research scientist scholarship. Courtney is eager to develop an independent research career investigating histoplasmosis and cryptococcosis in cats and is developing novel diagnostics and therapeutics to address these conditions.
Over 40 excellent candidates applied for these scholarship opportunities. Winn and the AAFP are excited to see what the future holds for Nicole and Courtney in feline medicine.

Do Pheromone Diffusers Lessen Feline Aggression in Multi-Cat Households?
A recent 28 day study of 45 households by Theresa L. DePorter, DVM demonstrates that they can. At the end of the study, all households were asked "'Generally, do you find that your cats are getting along better?" 84.2% of treatment group households answered "yes" compared to only 64% in the control group, a statistically significant difference. Interestingly, the authors noted a trend towards higher rates of aggression in declawed cats compared to cats who were not.

The 2018 AAFP Conference
Winn's partnership and presence in Charlotte, NC
 WINN has partnered with the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) to provide educational sessions at their Annual Conference.
The 2018 AAFP Conference will be held from September 27 - 30 at the Charlotte Convention Center and Westin Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The theme of this year's conference is

. WINN has partnered on two sessions which will be presented by Dr. Diane Eigner and Dr. Sheilah Robertson on Friday, September 28. Dr. Eigner will discuss Quality of Life Assessments, Feline Hospice, & Palliative Care and Dr. Robertson will discuss

New York Cat Film Festival in Arlington, MA
Buy your tickets for the June 29th and 30th showings
The New York Cat Film Festival is traveling the country with two 70-minute programs showing a medley of short cat films. The Arlington, MA venue is the Regent Theater at 7 Medford Street.
Cat Behavior Consultant Rachel Geller will be giving a free Q&A Friday night, the 29th.
Winn Feline Foundation has been named as a charitable beneficiary by the Cat Film Festival.
