BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter   April 1, 2019        Vol. 38 Issue 7

Hello Brewster Day Camp,

Happy April! Spring has officially arrived, not just in camp land, but everywhere! The sun is brighter, the days are longer, the birds are chirping, and the wind off the bay has a tiny whisper of the warmth to come. We finally have time to get outside and EXPLORE the world that is revealing itself more and more each day!

We in the BDC Winter Office are very busy hiring the last few staff members, enrolling more campers, and having numerous conversations about our PLAP (Progressive Learning Action Plan) which is BDC's word for "curriculum." The campus is beginning to wake up from its long, cold, winter slumber and with just a little bit more work, Brewster Day Camp will be ready for you to EXPLORE!  This is just a short list of the many things that that  we  do in April.

Yes, we are very busy at this time of year, and we still make time to EXPLORE! When I feel bogged down in my day-to-day work, I make an effort to get outside. I enjoy walking through our beautiful campus, EXPLORING the life that is awakening in the forest surrounding BDOC, watching squirrels chase each other around the Ball Field, and finding exuberant flowers poking their heads out of the ground. You don't have to make a trip to BDC in order to EXPLORE this Spring. Lace up your shoes, grab your sunglasses, and go EXPLORE your neighborhood!

If you do want to EXPLORE the magic that can be found on our campus, I encourage you to plan your EXPLORATION at BDC this summer today.  If you have not yet enrolled, there is still time! Groups are quickly filling so please put 'Enroll at BDC' high up on  your  busy April to-do list. We are happy to help you with your summer plans. Until we see you soon at 3570 Main Street, I am wishing you...

Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace!

BDC CONTINUES TO LEAD!

Milisa 'misa' Galazzi, former BDC Director and current Advisor to the Director ,
highlights the essential work that camps do to foster the social and emotional development
of children and staff without the use of technology.

These leaders on our campus spent three days in Manchester, NH at the American Camp Association New England Conference. Along with 800 other camp professionals from the New England states, we filled our heads full of all things CAMP!
