Impact - celebrating 43 years

At Opportunity Partners, we are lucky to have incredible staff, some of whom have been with us for decades. Today we are happy to feature Carol Crumley, Administrative Coordinator, who has been with us for 43 years!

I began working at Clara Doerr Residence (OP's first Residential program) where I had a variety of responsibilities including receptionist, office duties, passing morning medications and taking people to appointments. My job evolved over the years with the biggest change occurring when Clara Doerr-Lindley Hall Residence closed. During the downsizing, it was exciting to assist in the development of 14 new group homes. After the closure in 2000, the Residential administrative staff moved to the main building (Koch Campus). I now manage OP's office supply and copier accounts, track Residential orientations, have various other administrative tasks, and serve on work-groups and committees. I never imagined working more than a few years at Clara Doerr when I started, but through the years that changed to I couldn't imagine leaving. Besides working for a company with a mission to be proud of, I always enjoyed my co-workers and found them to be supportive. Plus, I have the pleasure of seeing people I've known for decades, or have come to know more recently, every day in the halls at Koch.

Judge denies injunction to halt 7% cut

Disability trade associations ARRM and MOHR and several individuals with disabilities joined together in a lawsuit in federal court to stop implementation of a 7 percent rate cut affecting people with disabilities. The suit claims current Minnesota statute requires Minnesota's Department of Human Services to continue to fully fund its obligations to the services rates paid for through the state's Medicaid waivers, which allow people with disabilities to access supports to live and work in the community. We are disappointed that a judge has denied an injunction to halt the 7 percent cut. We will continue to work with our trade associations to determine the impact and to advocate to get it corrected in the future. Thank you for your support and advocacy!
