A Welcome Message from the PTO President

Dear Dogwood Families,

On behalf of the Dogwood PTO, welcome back!  We hope everyone enjoyed their summer vacation.  We are so excited to start the new school year and cannot wait for the students to see how fantastic the school looks with the new paint, the renovated bathrooms, and the resurfaced outdoor play area.  A big thank you to GMSD for making so many improvements to our school.

We are also very excited to welcome our new families into our Dogwood community!  We hope that you come to love Dogwood as much as we all do.

The PTO Board is already hard at work planning for all the fun events and activities like Family Movie Night, Dolphin Tale Ball, the Mother/Son Dance, and DolphinFest.  Be on the look out for more information about joining the PTO to help support the students and teachers at Dogwood, as well as these free community events.  

We look forward to another GREAT year at Dogwood!

GMSD Registration

Germantown Municipal School District is excited to begin the online enrollment process for the 2019-2020 school year beginning on July 1st.  Below are some tips for a smooth and successful registration process for your family.

Have your documents ready to upload:

Download an app to scan your documents by following instructions, here.

Log into Skyward Family Access and retrieve lost passwords or login information by clicking the "forgot login/password" prompts.  Skyward will "lock you out" after three failed attempts.  Please call 901-752-7900 if you have become locked out.  This is the system we use for online registration. 

All new students , including incoming Kindergarteners, need to supply additional documentation and will be required during the online registration process to schedule an appointment at your school to finalize your enrollment.  Appointment scheduling will take place in the Skyward Family Access Registration Application that opens on July 1st.

For existing Skyward Family Access Users registering upcoming Kindergarteners, you will complete the online process by clicking the New Student Registration tab on your Skyward Family Access home page beginning July 1st.  Please do not create a new Family Access account.

Summer Reading

School will be starting soon, but your child still has time to complete their summer reading!   Summer reading information and "READO" forms (grades K-2 and 3-5) may be found on our librarian's website. Return completed "READO" forms to your child's homeroom teacher in August for a prize! 

My School Bucks

Skip the lines at Open House!  MySchoolBucks  is now open for pre-sales! The store will close Sunday, August 11th at midnight.
Listed below are the items available for purchase:
  • Chair bags (2nd & 3rd only)
  • Agenda books (4th & 5th)
  • Music Recorders (4th & 5th only)
  • Communication Folder (all grades). *If you purchased a prepack school box, this is not needed*
  • Spirit Shirts (all students)
  • Class T-shirts (all students)
  • Instructional Fee (all students)
  • Gifted Math supplement (3rd-5th gifted students only)
A few things to keep in mind when ordering:
  • All items will be delivered to the students at school once the shipment is received.
  • New GMSD students must be registered in order to purchase items at www.myschoolbucks.com.
  • Don't forget to make sure that you confirm your order and receive a receive a receipt via email.

REACH Before and After Care

REACH before and after school care is provided by the City of Germantown Parks and Recreation Department.  Please visit their site to register or obtain additional information.

If you are a parent of a Dogwood student, you can also request to join the  Dogwood PTO Facebook Page to keep up to date with PTO and school events.  Be sure to answer the membership question to gain access, as it is a closed group for parents only. 

Be on the lookout for an email from the Dogwood PTO asking members to review their contact information for the directory and join the PTO for this year!  All membership payments will be online this year.
Events
Dogwood Moving Days!

The new paint on the walls looks AMAZING!  Now it is time to get everything ready for our students.  Please sign up to help our teachers get moved back into their classrooms on Tuesday, July 30th and Wednesday, July 31st.  Adult volunteers only. 

Meet the Teacher

Thursday, August 8 from 4-7 PM.

At Meet the Teacher night, you can:
  • Meet your child's teacher. Class lists will be posted at every classroom.  
  • Pickup pre-ordered school supply boxes.
  • Drop off supplies in your child's classroom.
  • Receive bus or car line number.
  • Set up lunch account.
  • Purchase items from the Dogwood Bookstore (agenda books, nap mats, recorders, chair bags, etc.)
  • Sign up for before/after care with REACH.
  • Pay the Student Instructional Fee.
  • Order your class t-shirt.

We can't wait to see you there!  Remember to bring your checkbooks, or prepay for items via My School Bucks (see information on My School Bucks above).

Kindergarten Meet and Greet

Kindergarten students and their families are invited to a Kindergarten Meet and Greet on Saturday, August 17th from 10-12 at Dogwood Park.

Come on out to meet and play with your new Dogwood friends!
