Dear Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you feeling refreshed after a beautiful week off of school! I hope you were able to enjoy some family time, and I look forward to seeing all of our SAGES' learners and staff on Monday!
A few things to note for the month of April:
GOVERNANCE BOARD: We are looking for TWO new members for our Governance Board!!! ALL parents of SAGES' learners and the Governance Board Members have a chance to nominate and vote on the election of Board Members. If anyone is interested in being on the board, we ask that you send a biography of yourselves to Kathy Jenswold, Governance Board President. Her email is
kjenswold@waupun.k12.wi.us. The voting will take place at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the SAGES' Media Center. Hope to see you there!
EASTER EGG HUNT: The Waupun Rotary Club is once again hosting their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20 at Tanner Park in Waupun. The egg hunt will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the eggs go quickly, so they recommend you arrive on time. Please bring your own baskets to hold all your goodies!
FORWARD EXAM:
SAGES 3rd-6th grade learners will be taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam this month. A brochure will be sent home, along with a schedule of the testing times. Please ensure your children are at school if possible on the testing dates. Snacks will be provided by the PTO on test days for those who are testing.
SCHEDULE
WANT TO VOLUNTEER
: We are always looking for more helpers at SAGES! Sheri Hicken, myself, and the PTO will be looking for volunteers to sign up for summer activities before school lets out. We will be sending something home with more information in May. Thank you kindly for your consideration.

Kindergarten Registration for Students Not in 4K
The Waupun Area School District is in the process of compiling the kindergarten list for the 2019-20 school year. If you are a parent with a
child whose birth date is on or before September 1, 2014
and does not attend 4-year old kindergarten in the Waupun Area School District, please contact the Education Service Center to register your child for kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year. Students attending 4K in Waupun will be moved up to kindergarten and do not need to register.
It is imperative that parents respond at this time. Planning is under way and this information is needed. The number of students registered will determine class size and allow ample time to order class materials for students.

2nd Graders Present: "SAGES' Barn Quilt Trail"
|
|
Displayed along our school hallways are 20 different construction-paper Barn Quilt patterns created by SAGES’ second graders. This project was cross-curricular incorporating math by using shapes and measurement, plus reading and writing, social studies, and agriculture. Once posted, the entire school was invited to follow the
"Barn Quilt Trail,"
listen to the persuasive audio accompanying each barn quilt, and then vote for their favorite.
Congratulations, Ryleigh!
Her sunflower pattern earned the most votes and will be what the 2nd graders paint on a 4'x4' wooden board as an actual "Barn Quilt" to be auctioned off at the April 15th
"Friends of SAGES Banquet & Fundraiser."
You're invited... To take the
"Barn Quilt Trail"
virtually, plus hear persuasive letters written and read by each learner. Simply visit:

A Salute to Supporters of our School

Meet SAGES' Learning Partner
is a special monthly segment showcasing the valuable
people, businesses, and groups who contribute to the success of our school. This month we salute our SAGES’ Governance Board!
As a charter school, SAGES is supported by the Waupun Area School District’s Board of Education, as well as a Governance Board. Made up of nine volunteers, the SAGES’ Governance Board meets a minimum of six times each school year. Beyond regular board meetings, Board Members also participate in SAGES’ Committees including Long Range Planning, Marketing/Fundraising, and Executive. Governance Board Member terms are three years with elections held at the Governance Board’s Annual Meeting. Parents/guardians of learners attending SAGES, including those who open enroll into the District, and the Governance Board members can vote for an open seat on the SAGES’ Governance Board. This year’s Annual Meeting is on
Thursday, May 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the SAGES' Media Center
. Join us!
Current SAGES’ Governance Board members include: Kathy Jenswold (President), Karen Gibbs (Vice-president), Jessica Standke (Secretary), Robbi Shranz (Treasurer), Bob Bergmann, Ron Daane, Maggie Drewa, Mary Perkins, and Kathy Rydquist.
Thank you
,
Governance Board members, for the
many “behind-the-scenes” ways you support SAGES.
Our learning community continues to
GROW
stronger working together!
