"Lord, you speak to me at the most unusual times!" I said as I sat on the edge of the examining table at a local hospital. I was instructed to go there for a general checkup and was waiting for the technician to come back into the room. I just met Nick who processed the paperwork for my exam and found out he wanted to become a veterinarian. He said his father was a very good veterinarian and Nick was nervous about trying to fill his father's shoes. In fact, he went in a different direction and that is why I met him at this hospital!
As I sat waiting, the Lord began to talk to me about Nick! "Tell Nick, His father's ceiling is his foundation and he will excel as a Veterinarian beyond what he could imagine. Tell Nick to tap into his generational blessing I have for him." Then I saw Nick in a vision bringing breakthrough in areas of animal medicine that had not yet been discovered! I could hardly wait to share this with Nick after my exams.
When I spoke with Nick about the vision and the word from the Lord he received it with such openness. The Lord had prepared his heart through our previous conversation.
I've learned to look for "the real reason you are there"! Don't just assume because you have an appointment scheduled it is the real "appointment" God has in mind. It may just be the means to get you where you are supposed to be.
"The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step]." (Psalm 37:23 amp) God "busies" Himself with our every step when we allow Him to direct and establish us! It brings Him delight when we are His vessels allowing Him to love through us to those along our path.
Maybe you are saying "I'm not good enough for God to use me!" Look what David said when he felt he had no value. "He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings." (Psalm 40:2 amp) Ask God to pull you out of the old paths of turmoil and set your feet upon His foundation and establish your goings! He delights in doing it! Begin a journey of daily aligning with His assignments and Devine appointments! Just simply surrender your life to the One who created you. He knows what's best!
Choose to stay on track! "My steps have held closely to Your paths [to the tracks of the One Who has gone on before]; my feet have not slipped." (Psalm 17:5 amp) Trust Him to keep you from slipping as you closely hold on to Him.
If His Word is true, (and it is), then we can trust Him to direct and establish us as we go through our day! That means we do not grumble or complain when things "seem" to not go as we had planned. When we are delayed, or plans are canceled, we pick up praise because we know we can trust Him and that He busies Himself with our every step! Look for the real reason you are there! Who is that "one" to which he has sent you today? I thought I was going for a check-up but that was just so I could encourage a young man named Nick!
