2019 Bond Informational Meetings
City of Garland officials will host four public meetings to help Garland residents learn more about the 2019 Bond Referendum proposals voters will consider in the May 4 election.
The public meetings are scheduled as follows:
- Thursday, April 11 - 6 p.m. at Audubon Recreation Center, 342 W. Oates Road
- Saturday, April 13 - 2 p.m. at North Garland Branch Library, 3845 N. Garland Ave.
- Thursday, April 18 - 6 p.m. at Hollabaugh Recreation Center, 3925 W. Walnut St.
- Saturday, April 20 - 2 p.m. at Garland City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St.
Each session will include a presentation and the opportunity for residents to ask questions.

A Community Conversation April 6
The City of Garland Community Multicultural Commission invites you to A Community Conversation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6, at the Goldie Locke Community Room in the Charles E. Duckworth Building, 217 N. Fifth St.
Topics will include the bond package, local election, 2020 census, voter registration and more.

Earth Day Celebration
Join GoGreenGarland from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Garland's Recycling Center, 1426 Commerce St.
Experience nature through animal encounters and wildflower planting, get a flush of adrenaline at the toilet races, enjoy live music, and so much more at the City's celebration!
Special recycling collections for TVs and other electronics will occur during the event. Free paper shredding will also be provided for Garland residents (four-box limit per family).
There is also a Keep Garland Beautiful Spring Trash-Off happening at 8 a.m. and eco-friendly recycling competitions.

Garland Heritage Celebration
Celebrate Garland's arts history from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the sixth annual
Garland Heritage Celebration on the historic Downtown Square.
The public is invited to enjoy live music, a scavenger hunt, bounce houses, mechanical bull rides, food vendors and much more.
Come early at 2 p.m. and enjoy Becoming Garland Avenue, a musical drama about our town's early days showing in the Plaza Theatre.
Premiering at this year's Heritage Celebration is the Landmark Museum's newest exhibit, Garland Arts & Entertainment, which tells of Garland's rich and varied arts history that began in the late 1800s.

Art Explorers: Abstract Art
Children ages 6 through 12 will discover a new technique for creating abstract art at this month's Art Explorers event, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Walnut Creek Branch Library, 3319 Edgewood Drive.
Attendees will make crumpled paper art by crumpling a piece of paper, identifying the natural lines and shapes created when the paper is unfolded, and coloring those shapes with colored pencils, resulting in a unique design.
Registration is required and limited to 24 participants.

Easter Egg Hunt April 17
Hop on over to
Audubon Park
for a chance to hunt for colorful candy and toy-filled eggs! Activities include bounce houses, face painting, photos with the Easter Bunny for a small fee and snacks for sale.
All age groups will start the hunt promptly at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Carter
Softball Complex in Audubon Park, 550 W. Oates Road.

The City Council is accepting applications for a Garland representative to the Board of Directors of the North Texas Municipal Water District. The term starts June 1 and runs through May 31, 2021. To qualify for the position, an applicant must reside in Garland and own taxable property. Applications will be accepted from April 3 through May 3 and should include a letter of interest and a r

May 4 General Election Information
Garland voters will have many items to consider in the May 4 General Election. Voters will elect a mayor and City Council representatives for districts 3, 6, 7 and 8. Voters also will consider eight bond propositions. For more information about City elections, visit the
