Breaking news: The Cliburn will be awarding a Gold Medal during 2018. But not THE gold medal. This gold is for the winner of the Cliburn Cocktail Competition, presented by the Cliburn 180° Young Professionals, and you could be a jurist. Teams are organizing and will present their best cocktail recipes May 19 at Crockett Row. Guests will be able to sip and vote. There also will be bar drinks, food and entertainment. Funds go toward the 180°s' Young Professional Prize at the 2021 Cliburn Piano Competition. B2B did its best Piano Man impression and Maggie the Marketer got us to stop screeching by sending over two tickets.
Deep dive designing: Fifteen aspiring community designers, judged by an eclectic group of fashion plates (that automatically eliminates Mr. B) will shop Goodwill stores for $100 worth of materials. With their treasures, they will produce wearable garments and present their fashions during a runway show. The event is Project Goodwill, May 3 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel, and benefits the Moncrief-Ryan Scholarship Fund of Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth. Eat, drink, feel pretty and look pretty with these two tickets from Liz (fashion fav) Confiliano.
 Walk the talk: Susan G. Komen envisions a world without breast cancer. And though it still is racing to find a cure, it has re-branded its major fundraiser in Fort Worth to the More Than Pink Walk. Why "More?" Well, many don't know that Komen gives 75 percent of local funds raised to local organizations to provide mammograms, diagnostics, treatment and support services in addition to research grants, child care and education for uninsured and underinsured folks. And it's a walk because only two percent of participants ran last year and a walk is less expensive to produce. The goal for the April 28 walk at Clearfork is to raise $750k. Komen's Sherry Caraway walked over with a registration for two steppers.
This 'star's' fire burns bright: Some of you go to so many lunches you are on a first-name basis with the chicken. Probably not many of you go to a luncheon as interesting, passionate, educational and entertaining as Stars in Recovery. This year's luncheon, which benefits the work of Recovery Resource Council, is May 1 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. Brendan McDonough will talk about his "journey to sobriety in a time of epidemic." A heroin addict with a daughter on the way, Brendan overcame many trials to become a member of an elite firefighter family. Jasmin jazzed B2B Insider with a seat for two readers.

Having priorities: MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival starts tomorrow and Laura Riehm, the MD in SkinDeepLaserMD, says it is one of her company's holiday days off. "We love it so much that when we moved back 14 years ago we started a tradition of taking Thursday and Friday off to spend perusing the aisles before the crowds hit," she said. "Now, as new small business owners, we only close the business on Thursday and high-tail out on Friday ASAP."
The 'host' is away: TravelHost's first Fort Worth publication will be delivered to rooms in 66 Tarrant County hotels this week. Franchise owner Kim Davis won't be delivering. That's because she now is Kim Spaulding, having been married Saturday, and she is beach bum honeymooning with husband Mark along the coasts in Florida and Alabama.
 All-nighters: In addition to classes and rounds and residencies, students at the School of Medicine at TCU and UNTHSC are going to be required to do a research project the entire time they are in school.

Stinkin' good news: The Fort Worth and Arlington chambers' combo networking event April 24 at Viridian would not have happened if you couldn't de-stink a dump site. Viridian, a massive community development, wasn't developed until underground fans were installed to suck out the odors from the landfill across Highway 157. The brother of Sherry Green of Technology Team is in that de-odorizing business.
Operation Lifesaver: Trinity Metro's Tyler Grant is presenting to schools close to the TEXRail route to teach children about rail safety. She has talked to more than 1,500 students as part of Texas Operation Lifesaver, which is committed to reducing the number of tragic incidents at highway-rail grade crossing intersections.
 A great exchange: Fort Worth Sister Cities has a 9th sibling -- Nimes, France, at right. Our first exchange of folks will be culinary, which is great news and hopefully a permanent exchange. Nimes (pop. 151,000) is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Cévennes mountains and its weather sounds a lot like Houston's.
Fyi: Galderma, owned by Nestle, is still Galderma, but it is changing the I-35 building name to Nestle Skin Health.
