SUMMERTIME FUN in the Land of 10,000 Lakes
Boating, fishing, swimming and the SON!

A Note From Pastor Linda

Jesus' disciples in a boat with Jesus as a terrible storm threatens to capsize their boat: Master! Master! We are going to drown!!
(Matthew 8, Mark 4, Luke 8)

Dear Witnesses (and YES - you are all witnesses!),

This week we officially enter the Season of Summer. The Summer Solstice happens on June 21- it occurs when the sun reaches its highest and most northern point in the sky. In the Northern Hemisphere (that's us in MN!)- this marks the day with the most hours of sunlight in the entire year! So... what are you going to do with your extra time of daylight?

Summer is here, and that means it is time to break out the flip flops and sunscreen and head to the LAKE (or pool!). Summer in MN is filled with water and water-sports activities.

On Sunday, during KIDTALK, we will take a moment to BLESS all things water- from pontoon boats to canoes, racing boats and fishing boats, life jackets and paddles- whatever it is that means summertime water-fun for you! We will acknowledge that GOD IS PRESENT in all things- everywhere we go!! Bring something to worship that symbolizes your water-fun and receive a blessing of safety. Here are a few ideas: water or beach toys, life jackets, a paddle, a boat(!), sunglasses, sunscreen, a picnic basket. You bring it and we will bless it!

Bring a friend! Your personal invitation is the BEST way to GROW God's kingdom!!

Be the CHURCH - invite a neighbor to join you!
 ~Pastor Linda

Summer Book Club on the Lake!
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Monday, July 25
6:30pm

We will be discussing the book " Little Fires Everywhere" by Celeste Ng, which was named Best Book of the Year by NPR, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and is a New York Times Best Seller!

Little Fires Everywhere begins with a house fire and a question: Who set it, and why? The house belongs to Elena and Bill Richardson, a wealthy white couple who epitomize success in picture-perfect, late-90's Shaker Heights, and their four teenage children, including girl-next-door, Lexie and the troubled prankster, Izzy, who is suspected of arson. "The firemen said there were little fires everywhere," Lexie says. "Multiple points of origin. Possible use of accelerant. Not an accident." Author Ng returns to the past for answers.

We will gather at Curt and Kelly Monson's home on Forest Lake at 8336 North Shore Trail and head out on the pontoon for an evening of conversation and connection. Contact Pastor Linda with questions.
