Committed to clean streets
Cumberland Council and the Regional Illegal Dumping (RID) Squad are now enforcing fines of up to $8,000 for illegal dumping, with two recent incidents in Auburn and Smithfield attracting fines of $2,000 each.
"We know the cleanliness of the streets is important for residents in Cumberland. It's also really important to Council," Mayor Greg Cummings said.
"It's been two months since Cumberland Council harmonised its clean up services.
We are hopeful the increased flexibility and frequency of the service, as well as the increased size of collections, will see a reduction in illegal dumping.

Council has now started to enforce fines
of up to $8,000 for illegal dumping. It really just isn't worth the risk of being slapped with a massive fine when you've got access to four free services per year."

Safety and accessibility audit
Residents recently joined forces with Cumberland Council and NSW Police to carry out a safety and accessibility audit of the Pendle Hill Town Centre.
Four teams took to the streets to document safety concerns and accessibility issues. The information is now being collated into a report for Council and NSW Police.
The audit is the first of four scheduled for town centres across Cumberland in 2018, following successful audits carried out in Guildford and Pemulwuy in 2017.
We're currently inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from community members to join the Community Safety Committee and Access Committee.

ClubGRANTS applications open soon
ClubGRANTS is a community grants program funded by local clubs and administered by Cumberland Council.
The Clubs for Cumberland ClubGRANTS Scheme will fund projects that address the following priorities: community safety, education and employment, health and well-being, sustainability, youth, social cohesion and participation.
Organisations can access free information sessions, grant writing workshops and receive tailored advice on their project at an advisory desk session.
Applications are open until 4pm on Monday 7 May 2018.

Auburn Botanic Gardens Masterplan
We're seeking community feedback on the draft Auburn Botanic Gardens Masterplan, which has been placed on public exhibition until Monday 30 April 2018.
Some of the proposals include succulent and desert gardens, more colour and seasonal planting, a rainforest area, an edible garden, an amphitheatre upgrade and more seating.
