Calling all Music Fans! Luther's Jazz Orchestra left on tour last Thursday and due to blizzard conditions only gave one concert.  Let's show them some fan love tonight (Tuesday) at their 7:30 Homecoming Concert in the CFL!





ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Luther Student Congregation invites Luther students, groups, and organizations to join in serving residents in the Decorah area with spring chores on  Saturday, April 28 through Luther Serves! Help with yard work, cleaning first floor windows, light housework, and other chores. Morning shifts are from 9:30 a.m. to noon and afternoon shifts are from 1:30-4:00 p.m. Sign up here or email  [email protected]. Tabling information to come.

Play "Geocache for College Cash"
 in Preus Library during Money Smart Week (April 21-28)!  Visit the circulation desk any time during the week to learn how to play. Students could win a $1,000 scholarship, a security backpack filled with goodies, or other prizes! It's quick and easy, and you'll learn great financial tips too. Sponsored by Preus Library, TRIO Achievement Program, Wellness, Financial Aid, and Admissions.

Luther College and the Oneota Film Festival are hosting a free screening of the documentary "Heroin(e)" at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21 in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. A panel, hosted by Helping Services for Youth and Families, will held following the screenin.
 
The Diversity Center will have a Decorah Walmart shopping shuttle running from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on SUNDAY, APRIL 22 .  This is open to all students and there is no charge, but reservations are requested, please register here .

EARL Public Transit has a new Thursday evening route running every Thursday 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., the first stop is Dahl Centennial Union, the last stop is First Lutheran Church, other stops at Oneota Co-op and Walmart. No reservations needed. The cost is $2 an evening that allows riders unlimited stops along the route during its service hours. Job posting: Web Content Fellow (.92 FTE, 11-month, non-renewable). Responsibilities include managing the Web Content Bureau (6-7 students workers), and assisting with web content tasks such as reviewing and improving websites and training new users. Additional potential duties include planning, monitoring, and content work within the college's social media platforms. RERUNS
Beginning this summer, Luther College will no longer offer summer storage on campus. The summer storage program was reviewed by the college's safety committee and insurance providers and it was deemed no longer viable. The decision to not continue storage on campus was a difficult one for the committee. 
SPIN Theatre, a Luther College student theatre organization, will perform Bertolt Brecht's play "Selections from The Private Lives of the Master Race" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in Storre Theatre. Tickets are $3, available at the door. However, the liability risks mean that we are unable to continue with this service. 

The Luther College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Juan Tony Guzmán, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Center for Faith and Life. 
The concert is the culmination of the Jazz Orchestra's 2018 Midwest Tour. The program features a variety of exciting jazz repertoire, including works by Duke Ellington, Oliver Nelson, Don Menza, Mike Tomaro, Pat Metheny and Brazilian masters.

J-TERM 2019 IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS: An information meeting for the J-term, "Tales of the Sea," will be held Tuesday, April 17, at 9:40-10:30 a.m. in Main 112. The English course (HEPT) is open to all majors. Find out about this unique offering in which students not only read literature of the sea, but also live the life, sailing and crewing on the historic wooden schooner, Roseway, in the Virgin Islands. Luther College's Varsity Band and Wind and Percussion Ensemble will perform their spring concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall. The Varsity Band will perform "Fanfare and Flourishes for a Festive Occasion," "Fandango," "Blue and Green Music," Symphonic Dance No. 3 "Fiesta" and "National Emblem. The Wind and Percussion Ensemble portion of the concert includes "Home Again," "English Dances," "A Movement for Rosa," and "Barnum and Bailey's Favorite."

Tau Delta Gamma is hosting a blood drive  on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 17 & 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the North Gym.  To make an appointment or to learn more, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org  or call 1-800-733-2767. Completion of a RapidPass online health history questionnaire found at redcrossblood.org/rapidpass   is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

The Luther College Hearing Board , which adjudicates significant violations of the Student Code of Conduct, is seeking students to serve as members of next year's board.  The application is available online. Interested students must have a minimum 2.50 GPA and possess maturity, respect for confidentiality, and excellent critical thinking skills. For the next five weeks, senior Katy Roets will be hosting "Hymns We Love" at 9:30 a.m., Sunday mornings on KWLC. The November, 1961 morning of the C.K. Preus gymnasium fire was the last time a show by this name played at Luther; at the time, it was hosted by Roets' grandfather Thomas Vaaler. Now, Roets' will reflect on a beloved hymn each week, exploring the ways in which it speaks to our lives today.

April is STD Awareness Month . Luther College Health Service, in partnership with Winneshiek County Public Health, will be offering FREE  STD testing on April 19. Walk-In to Health Service anytime between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for a FREE urine STD screening. Coffee and Cookie coupons to all participants! 

There is a supply of gently used professional clothing, footwear and handbags for males and females, appropriate for job interviews, job shadowing, internships, etc., at the Women and Gender Equality Center (Gjerset House) on High Street. If you are interested in having any of these items, please stop by the WGEC to pick up on Tuesday, April 17 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. or Wednesday, April 18 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. First come, first served.
