"At the Summer Solstice, all is green and growing, potential coming into being, the miracle of manifestation painted large on the canvas of awareness."

Current Mortgage Rat es                                  My Listings                           Getting to know the Flathead

Hello dear friends and clients,

As you can see from the invitation to the left...we're having a summer party at the office and I hope to see all your smiling faces there!

This is probably the busiest summer I can ever remember. Bigfork is popping and there are so many amazing properties for sale. It seems that everyone wants to live in the Flathead Valley and who can blame them? This summer has been perfect, just the right amount of rain to keep things green and the warm sun for the fun. There is just nowhere like it anywhere.

We are seeing a definite step up trend in median sales prices and days on market in the Kalispell residential market. Check out the information here. In addition, Bigfork has new events that are bringing people into the village. One of the newest and really fun events is the Bigfork Village Market. Music, locally made foods and crafts and a gorgeous place to hang out on a Monday evening is growing in popularity. Of course, our Bigfork Performing Arts Center theater season is always popular and this year is no different. Click here for performance schedule.

It's an exciting and beautiful place to live so if
you are thinking of listing your property, or buying a property in Montana, my experience, record and expertise will successfully guide you through the negotiation process toward the right price. Call, text or email me. We'll go have dinner and talk.

See you at the party or sooner!
As always,  cheers!
Denise

Last week, the Flathead Valley lost a great friend.
Joe Brenneman was a Creston farmer and a former Flathead Valley Commissioner. He was a bright beacon in a dark sky for all his years of service and his help and support during Bigfork's creation of the neighborhood plan was invaluable. He will be missed as a gentle visionary and a kind friend.
My thoughts are with his family.

Testimonial:

The first thing that impressed me about Denise is that she sought me out when I was looking to relist my house for sale.
When we set up our first meeting she came prepared with
market data and statistics that made it comfortable to know
how to price the home.

Denise's Kitchen Corner...Grilled Seafood and Linguine

I NGREDIENTS
1/4 cup white wine
8 ounces peeled and deveined large shrimp
8 ounces sea scallops
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 lemons, 1 cut in half, 1 zested and juiced
2 1/2 cups marinara sauce
2 tablespooons chopped salt-packed capers, rinsed
8 ounces small clams, cleaned
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
DIRECTIONS
Preheat a grill to medium heat.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and generously season with salt. Cook the pasta 1 to 2 minutes less than the package directions.

Meanwhile, use a paper towel to pat dry the shrimp and scallops. Season with salt and pepper on both sides and brush with the olive oil. Grill just until grill marks appear, about 1 minute per side (they will be undercooked); reserve.

Grill the lemon halves until softened and grill marked, 5 to 8 minutes; reserve.

Place a large saucepan on the grill (this can also be done inside on the stove). Heat the marinara sauce until hot, then add the capers and lemon zest and juice. Add the clams and cover. Cook until the clams begin to open, about 5 minutes. Add the pasta and white wine to the sauce and toss to coat.

Add the parsley and reserved shrimp and scallops and continue to toss until the pasta is evenly coated, the shrimp and scallops are cooked through and all the clams are open, about 1 minute.
Serve with the grilled lemon halves.

According to the Farmer's Almanac...Montana's summer will be hot and dry. Have ants? I mean who doesn't?
Denise's Book Corner

Circe is the outcast and unloved daughter of Helios, the Sun God. Seemingly without super powers, she is dismissed by her family and exiled to a deserted island by her father. Circe does have powers, though. She has the power of witchcraft and is able to transform enemies into monsters.

This book by Madeline Miller is based on the Greek myth, yet has so much "modern" to it. It is written more like a memoir than a novel and follows Circe's life, her challenges, loves, enemies and all she encounters as a single, strong woman. It chronicles how she vacillates and navigates between being human and goddess.

I think what I liked
most about the book is the dignity it imbued in its female characters. As I read through Circe's life, I enjoyed how she claimed control and refused to submit to the will of men. Strong women hit glass ceilings and that metaphor was strong and really struck home with me. Also, you don't have to be a Greek Mythology buff to get this book!

I think you will enjoy it and it's a great book for a book club or a lively conversation starter with the family.
