Action Alert: Stop the 7% Cut

Thank you for your efforts this session to stop the 7% cut. Your actions are making a difference.

This issue has reached a critical juncture. The Senate and House passed bills addressing the 7% cut last Thursday.
  • The Senate bill delays the 7% cut and then reduces it to a 5% cut.
  • The House bill STOPS the 7% cut.
The bills will now go to conference committee where Senators and House members will come to an agreement and present one final proposal to the Governor.

It is critical that Senators hear the following important points from their constituents. Please personalize and share the message below with your Senator:

Dear Senator __________:

Thank you for your efforts thus far to address the potential devastating 7% cut to community-based disability services.

The current Senate position on the 7% cut is a short-term fix and not a long-term solution. As the conference committee process begins, please keep these important points in mind about the current Senate position on the 7% cut in the Omnibus Supplemental Finance bill:
  • This bill will result in a 5% cut to community-based disability services.
  • By passing this cut, the Senate is not facing the funding and infrastructure crisis that community-based disability services are experiencing across the state.
  • Any cut will result in fewer resources available for access to community services for people with disabilities.
  • Please stop - not just delay - the 7% cut. Doing so is critical to support people with disabilities.
Thank you.
