Hello,
In case you didn’t already know, American Canyon is awesome. Did you know we have an award-winning program at the Phillip West Aquatic Center to provide swim lessons for all 8th graders at American Canyon Middle School as a part of their physical education curriculum? Regardless of background or ability, every child who grows up in American Canyon is given the opportunity to learn how to swim, and this opens up a potential lifetime of outdoor recreation and enjoyment.
Traffic safety is always at the forefront of our mind. Did you know American Canyon has a Traffic Calming Program? The three pillars of the Program are “Engineering, Enforcement, and Education” and it relies upon fact-based inquiry and data-driven decisions. The Program has a toolbox of contemporary traffic calming measures with guidelines for their selection and placement. Staff will be giving a presentation to the City Council about the Program next Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:30 PM at City Hall. I encourage all residents to attend. Also, representatives from Napa Valley Transportation Authority and Caltrans will be on hand to present an update of their efforts to improve traffic congestion on State Highway 29. If you can’t attend in person, you can access the agenda and watch the meeting live stream online beginning at 6:30 PM on Tuesday.
