Video Streaming Now Available to Sedona Patrons!

The Library is excited to offer Kanopy, a free streaming video service, to all Sedona Library patrons! With a selection of over 30,000 on-demand videos, the Kanopy collection includes new releases, independent and international cinema, classic movies, documentaries, educational films, and more.
Library cardholders can access Kanopy on their home computers or with the Kanopy app on mobile devices. To get started using Kanopy, visit

, enter your name and email, and create a password. Kanopy will then send you an email--just open it, follow the directions, and start watching.
You can stream up to four movies per month on Kanopy. A counter at the top right of your screen lets you know how many movies remain in the month. (Remember, if you start a movie and then decide not to watch it, it counts towards your four movies for the month.)

Get Your Kicks at Read Around Sedona!

Journey along historic Route 66 with Sedona Public Library during Read Around Sedona 2019, the Library's community reading project. You're invited to read our selected title, "Arizona Kicks on Route 66," by travel writer Roger Naylor, and attend programs scheduled throughout the month.
Please note: Events take place at different locations.
- On the Road Since 1925: The Colorful History of Arizona Highways: Wednesday, April 3, 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 55 Rojo Drive in the Village of Oak Creek. Presented by Win Holden.

 Read Around Sedona Kick-Off: Friday, April 5, 10:30 a.m. to noon in the community room at SPL. Meet author Roger Naylor, view classic cars courtesy of Sedona Car Club, and enjoy local pie.
- Tour of La Posada Hotel in Winslow: Wednesday, April 10, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit a historic hotel, museum, and gallery on Route 66. Cost is $5 per person; transportation not provided. To register, contact Cheryl Yeatts at 928-284-1603 or email [email protected] no later than Friday, April 5.
- Photography Presentation: Monday, April 15, 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the community room at SPL. Mike Koopsen will discuss photography in Read Around Sedona author Roger Naylor's book "Boots and Burgers."

- Conversational French Group: The group will meet on Tuesday, April 2 and 16, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Quiet Study.
- Conversational Spanish Group: The group will meet every Wednesday evening, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Library.
- Socrates Cafe: The group will meet on Monday, April 8, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., in the Quiet Study. Facilitated by Barbara Breitbart, this group is perfect for those who enjoy honest and respectful discussions of fundamental human questions. Please RSVP at the reference desk for this free program.
- Book Club: Join us at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, in the Quiet Study for a discussion of the Read Around Sedona selection "Arizona Kicks on Route 66," by Roger Naylor, and "One Woman's West: The Life of Mary-Russell Ferrell Colton," by Richard K. Magnum.
- Coffee with a Veteran: Joe Stack will be the guest speaker on Friday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon in the community room. Stack will give a presentation on the events of 1968 and will show why this tumultuous and inspiring year is remembered as historically pivotal.
- Speaker Program: On Friday, April 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the community room, Clancy Sage, of the Sedona Heritage Museum, will present the second in a series of Sedona history lectures at the Library: "The History of Local Cowboys and Ranching." This program, presented in collaboration with the Sedona Historical Society, is free and open to the public.
- Nonfiction Book Club: Everyone is invited to attend a new nonfiction book club, facilitated by library staff. The group will meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month. The first meeting is on Tuesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. in the Quiet Study, and the featured book is "The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women," by Kate Moore.

- Poetry and Prose Project: Attend a Poetry and Prose Project event on Friday, April 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the community room. This month's program will be a classic poetry show, always one of the year's most popular shows, with actors and writers reading poems by classic authors.

- The Whimsical Village of Medow: Local artist Mike Medow will display his amazing collection of miniature wooden houses through May.
- A Nostalgic Journey Along Route 66, Main Street of America: As part of Read Around Sedona, the Library is presenting a fascinating multi-part exhibit, created by Sedona resident Wendy Jack. The exhibit includes a Route 66 diorama, a hand-painted map featuring iconic Route 66 tourist sites, an information board, and more.
