Every Person, Every Sunday
Vital Training - Learn how to make our guests feel welcome
This Saturday, March 30 from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Fellowship Hall
A Project of the Vibrant Church Initiative

A first impression is vitally important. Each week, guests arrive on our campus looking for a church home. We want make them feel at home by creating a culture of welcoming and hospitality.

On Saturday, March 30, Jan Floro, our VCI Consultant, will present a workshop entitled "Every Person, Every Sunday." She will give us tips and tricks for talking to strangers and making them feel welcome.

We are looking for at least 100 people to attend and learn how to recognize someone new, make them feel comfortable, and connect them with a relevant ministry. It's a necessity if we want to be welcoming & provide a church home to more people.

Some quick facts:
  • People do not typically join a church without visiting first
  • Guests represent 100% of our church's potential growth
  • Most members think their church is welcoming, but most guests do not
Join us for this important training!

Please RSVP to reserve your space by contacting Joy Quandahl at jquandahl@sbcglobal.net

Fellowship Friday, an Energizers' outreach ministry, provides a loving, welcoming and fun environment for family members with mild to moderate memory loss who do not require skilled care. This program, a partnership between Interfaith CarePartners and BCUMC, is designed to give caregivers some much needed time away.

This month's theme is "Springtime". Join us Friday, April 12 from 10:00am - 1:30pm to hear our special entertainment, "Sunshine Band"!
If you would like to help enrich the lives of our guests or would like more information about this program, please contact Dot McLaren at mclaren_k@sbcglobal.net.
No special training is required -- all you need is the desire to show Christ's love.
"Spruce Up Saturday"
Saturday, April 13, 2019 from  8am to Noon
Can you help us prepare the church for Easter?

The Trustees will have a "Spruce Up" day on Saturday, April 13 (8am-12pm). We have a list of 10 special projects both inside and outside that we want to tackle around the church campus. All church members are encouraged to sign up. We are looking to "WOW" anyone who visits Bear Creek United Methodist Church!

Here are the projects planned:
  • Mulch flowerbeds
  • Paint the fence around the chillers and AC units
  • Remove tape residue from Gym floor and bleachers
  • Trim trees in Ministry Village
  • Paint walls in Nursery office
  • Organize kitchen drawers and cabinets including an inventory of linens
  • Plant annuals at Sanctuary entrance
  • Clean as many windows as possible
  • Work in Playgound
  • Sand and spray paint walkway light poles
Your Help Needed
Material and tools needed for each project are listed on the sign-up sheets.
Volunteers can sign up by calling the church office or in the Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall after service. We estimate needing at least 50 volunteers to complete these projects for Easter.
It will be a fun and rewarding time to fellowship and make a huge difference in helping us put our best foot forward for the guests visiting us this Easter. We hope you'll join us!

Saturday in Service

In Partnership with Numana
ONE Project Only
Most Volunteers Needed - Ever!

The Family Missions Committee in partnership with Numana is sponsoring a hands on meal packaging event which will give our church the opportunity to serve the hungry children in El Salvador at a cost of only 30 cents a meal.

In just two hours we will package 43,000 simple, nutritious meals with Convoy of Hope who will then deliver the meals to the school children in El Salvador. There's a job for everyone and all ages are welcome to serve.

Numana brings in all the food needed for the meals and we will measure, package and prepare the meals for shipping. Children will be given crayons and markers to decorate the boxes once they have been packed.

600 children an hour die from malnourishment issues. Please join us for "Saturday in Service" as BCUMC comes together to make a difference in a child's life as we share our love, God's love, and our resources with those less fortunate in the world.

How Can You Help?
1. Each shift will have 20 packing stations with 10 people needed for the station. Sunday school classes, small groups, and ministry areas are being asked to put together a team of 10 for either or both shifts. Members of the Family Missions Committee will be in the Narthex on Sundays, March 31, April 7, & April 14 to sign up individuals and assign them to a team.

2. Provide financial assistance! For $75.00 you can provide meals for a child during the entire school year, for $65.00 you can fund a box which contains 217 meals, or provide for as many 30 cent life sustaining meals as you would like. Checks can be made to "BCUMC" with "Missions" in the memo line.

As always your help is greatly appreciated!

Church Historians Needed
Newly Formed Committee to Create Digital Scrapbooks.
Submissions Needed!

The newly formed Church History Committee would like to produce an online yearbook/scrapbook of the church events during the year. To be successful, we will have to rely on faithful members to help us preserve the memories of the year.

Each month we will try to summarize what happened. So if you were involved in any events or meetings during a particular month, we ask that you submit your photos to our committee!

How to Submit Items
You can email your photos to Cindy Pekkanen at cpekk10@gmail.com.
Please be sure to include:
  • The names of anyone pictured with correct spelling if possible
  • The date of the event
  • How many attended the event
  • Any fun details (how much money raised, people helped, etc.)
  • A description of what's going on or what the event was
This information will help us summarize what happened accurately.

2019 Catch-Up
Since the committee was formed this month, we are already behind on some of the events that have happened this year. If you can help us catch up, we would really appreciate it!

Again, please send photos or news items to send them to Cindy Pekkanen at cpekk10@gmail.com.
