Announcement on Serra School Closure
We are aware that the public school districts communicated that they would be closing through the end of the semester. Serra will be collaborating with the Archdiocese of San Francisco and the San Mateo County Health Department to confirm the learning plans for the future.  We will communicate those plans when decisions are finalized. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
Senior Padre Profile Project - Class of 2020
We are creating a webpage dedicated to the Class of 2020. We would like to highlight our seniors and the incredible achievements, memories and special experiences they have had here at Serra. It would be very special to have participation from the entire Class of 2020.

Students interested in participating in the Serra Profile Project will need to answer a brief series of questions and upload a photo to the link above. The student's senior portrait will serve as the thumbnail to his profile. Each one of our seniors has made their mark here at Serra and we are eager to showcase our phenomenal Padres!
Celebrating Easter During Global Pandemic
This has been a Lent like no other. In so many ways, we are living a desert experience, alone and isolated. And, yet, we are now in the most sacred week of our faith. We have come out of the desert and we know how the story ends. While the passion of Christ is part of the liturgical celebrations this week, the ultimate celebration is Christ's resurrection. It is a day and moment that reminds us we are an Easter people, full of eternal hope. As sure as the sun will rise again tomorrow, we are certain that we will overcome this pandemic.

Each of you has had to sacrifice, adapt, create, and innovate as you adjusted to distance learning and shelter in place. This is not easy, but you've given it your best. As our community adapts to a new reality of school, we also must adapt to how we at Serra celebrate the most important aspect of our Christian faith. The Campus Ministry team has put together a few resources for students and their families to enhance your spiritual Holy Week journey. From all of us at Serra High School, we wish you a Happy Easter and a restful break.
  • Simple ways to celebrate and pray each day of Holy Week in your home as a family HERE.
  • Celebrate a Seder meal as a family on Thursday and participate in this beautiful Jewish tradition. The seder meal is the celebration of the Jewish feast of Passover, which means that this meal is what Jesus was doing at what we call the "Last Supper." Instructions
    HERE.
  • Many of the local parishes are now live-streaming their Masses, including for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.  See if your local parish is live-streaming HERE, and if not, join in with another local parish to celebrate Easter as a Catholic community.
  • Pope Francis' Holy Week message HERE.
You remain in our prayers,

The Campus Ministry Team: Mr. Billy Byrnes, Ms. Christian Cahill, Mr. Zach Lantz, Mdme. Mary Dowden, Mr. Patrick Vallez-Kelly, and Father Michael Liliedahl

Serra Website Tells Stories of Strength, Support

In an effort to bring optimism, strength and joy to our Serra community during these unprecedented times, we have created a website page to share heartwarming stories and random acts of kindness that surround us all. We hope to bring a smile to your face as we all unite together in this crisis. Please upload pictures and tell us your story.

We are also hoping to support our Serra community businesses who might be struggling during the Shelter in Place. Please visit our Covid Kindness page for more information or to add a business to our growing list.
Christian Service Opportunities from a Distance
We encourage students to continue to find creative and thoughtful ways to serve the community from your home. Here are some ideas on how to serve from a distance:
  • Write letters to residents in retirement or care facilities who are lonely. Email Ms.Cahill for a list.
  • Mobile Serve has a list of virtual volunteer opportunities HERE.
  • X2Vol has a list of virtual volunteer opportunities HERE.
All Serra students will be getting a pass in service no matter how many hours they have completed.
