Old Woodward Reconstruction Project Update
The Old Woodward Reconstruction Project enters its fourth week, with 15 percent of the project completed. With favorable weather conditions on the horizon this coming weekend, the intersection of Old Woodward and Maple will be closed Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 for underground utility work. Due to the heavy rain this past weekend, the planned closure of the Old Woodward and Maple intersection was cancelled.

Anticipated work for this week includes continued fiber optic installation and sewer work. Traffic signals have been removed at the intersections of Old Woodward and Maple and Old Woodward and Brown. Signs are in place urging drivers to watch for pedestrians at each intersection. Pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution when using crosswalks in or near the construction zone.

The City is now providing free parking on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in all city parking structures. The City thanks you for your patience as we work to transform the underground functionality and above ground aesthetics in downtown Birmingham for decades to come.
