Hi Everyone -
Where to begin?!
Summer has arrived in Los Gatos with a flair. Jazz on the Plazz kicks off Wednesday, June 19
th
. Music in the Parks starts up in July and Vasona Vibrations is already rocking. What more could we possibly need? OH YES, you all asked for the
Block Parties
again, they are happening and will be even bigger and better than last summer. Come downtown on Thursday, June 20, July 18 and August 8
th
for some music, wine and beer, other art and entertainment and good times for all. We will start in Town Plaza at 5 p.m. and then everyone can move down to Loma Lane (Gray’s Lane) for some dancing in the streets. Tell your friends.
Capping off the summer season,
Eat Drink Play Los Gatos
will be back for the third year on September 28. We have an even bigger and better event planned. Be sure to stay tuned for details, save the date! Check out the band,
Wonder Bread 5
. They will be our headliner for the day! It will be an event to remember! Thank you to
Linda L. Lester
who will once again be our Presenting Sponsor. Other
sponsorship opportunities
are still available.
We cannot wait for the unveiling of the
Flame of Liberty Memorial Dedication
on Saturday, June 15
th
. You will not want to miss this memorable ceremony. The Veteran’s Memorial & Support Foundation of Los Gatos has put endless hours into making this happen. Three cheers to John Lochner, his crew and their dream. Thank you for making it become a reality. See you out at the Civic Center.
One of my favorite events, the
Los Gatos Plein Air Festival
, happens June 19-22 with 27 artists arriving on Wednesday, June 19
th
. Say hello to them when you see them painting our beautiful town and then join in for the festivities on the evening of Saturday, June 22 and all day Sunday, June 23. There will be an Artist Preview & Sale on Saturday night in the breezeway at 100 North Santa Cruz Avenue. Thanks to
Testarossa Winery
for hosting the wine and to all the
Los Gatos Morning Rotary
volunteers who are making magic happen. The Festival is Sunday, 10am-5pm, in Town Plaza where all the works of art will be displayed and sold.
If you own a small business or are seeking to do more business in this town or in Campbell, join us for our
Joint Speed Networking
Event
on Thursday, June 13
th
at the JCC.
Fortino Wine
is hosting the wines for this event! Thank you. Come prepared to meet a lot of new people and make a lot of new business connections. That is what it is all about!
On the Town front…
First of all thanks to the Town Council for financially supporting the Town’s Visitor and Information Center housed here in the Chamber Offices. It is a pleasure for us to welcome visitors to Town and suggest places to shop, dine and play in Los Gatos. Even as locals, if you need information, use us as a resource. We encourage you to stop by and bring your out of town guests. We have coupons, postcards, hats, water bottles and more, and we are here to answer any and all of your questions.
Also, the Town’s Parking Consultant is on a mission to figure out how to best address our Town’s parking challenges. Should you have any questions or ideas, send them our way and we will pass them along.
Lastly, as most of you know, that the Town is trying a
One-Way N. Santa Cruz Pilot Program
this summer starting in early July through October. While there will surely be some hiccups at first, bear with it. We are so happy the Town is trying something big and bold. We will all learn a great deal. For more information about the details of this pilot program, go to the Town’s website, the
Experience Los Gatos page
; or go to Instagram or Facebook @ExperienceLosGatos for up to date information on Town Happenings.
Don’t forget to download the new app,
RCommunity
. There you can find great deals and specials and everything Los Gatos.
On that note and my last one, a funny thing happened yesterday; Nick Difu, the chef/owner of Nick’s Next Door came into our office (his raw bar will be opening in mid-July by the way). He came in to remind us that in addition to marketing to the out-of-towners, we have to remember our own, our locals, because of how special all of you are. He has point. Don’t forget to shop, dine and play in your hometown this summer. We are fortunate to live in such a special place, one that we call home – so
LOVE LOS GATOS!
Cheers and Happy Summer. See you at the Block Party.
