March in Truro...
In March we pick up 78 minutes of additional daylight, enough to bring temperatures up about 5 degrees from February. Daylight Saving Time arrives Sunday, March 10 at 2am.
Longer days and the sun's higher arc in the sky should generate 10% more power from our solar panels.
According to past records, we are told to expect an average temperature of 36°F, with average lows of 29°F and highs of 44°F. We traditionally get an average total of 3 inches of rain and 8 inches of snow.
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Truro Climate Action Committee Petition
A group of concerned citizens hopes to pass an article at the upcoming Annual Town Meeting to establish a Truro Climate Action Committee. The climate is changing and will eventually affect every aspect of Truro and every Truro resident and visitor. We must act now to protect our way of life.
The rise of sea level will impact our beaches, wetlands, and low-lying properties; and it will cause salt intrusion upon our aquifer. Storms, which cause major erosion along our coasts, are expected to be increased in frequency and intensity as climate change worsens.
The petition calls upon the Town to recognize these conditions, and it asks the Select Board to create a new Climate Action Committee to assess Truro's carbon footprint and vulnerability to climate change. Also, it seeks to establish a community-wide mitigation and adaptation program with the goal of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, maximizing energy efficiency, and facilitating adaptation to changing climate conditions.
The full text of the petition can be found here.
Outer Cape Solar Program

Please complete the contact form at outercapeenergize.org, or contact ACE Solar directly to receive the discount and help the Outer Cape nonprofit community!     More...

As part of a coordinated effort to increase job opportunities for qualified individuals with disabilities, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has partnered with the Massachusetts Office on Disability, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, and the Commonwealth's Human Resources Division to host the 2019 State Employment Career Fair. The career fair will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 10am-1pm at the State Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza in Boston. Truro Historical Society
Progress continues to be made on the addition of a climate-controlled storage room at the back of the Highland House Museum. Once it is completed this spring, we will be able to store artifacts and works of art at the museum regardless of the weather. Thank you to the CPC, the Town of Truro, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council for providing the funds for this project. You can see pictures of the work in progress on our website. The Highland House Museum will open for the 2019 season on June 1st.
We are continuing to offer our members the opportunity to rent the Highland House Museum for private parties and events.  For more information, contact director@trurohistoricalsociety.org.
