Beautify the Church Grounds 12 noon
Come to worship dressed to work outside! After
worship we will gather in the Reception Room for our annual meeting and then head outside to help prepare the grounds for spring. Please bring rakes, shovels and gardening gloves. In worship we will celebrate the ordination and installation of elders and deacons and continue to learn from the stories of Acts. the scriptures are Psalm 98 and Acts 10:44-48. Our Lay Worship Leader is Bill Braun.
Music Notes: The offertory is a jubilant setting of Psalm 100 by the American composer Rene Clausen (b.1953), conductor and composer at Concordia College. In acknowledgement of Dutch Liberation Day (observing the end of Nazi occupation in WWII), the organ prelude is a setting of Psalm 116 from the Genevan Psalter (adopted by the Dutch Reformed Church) by Amsterdam organist Anthoni van Noordt (1619-1675). Our services concludes with a "courante" (baroque dance) by another Dutch composer, Peeter Cornet (ca.1570-1633). This Sunday we once again welcome members of The Netherlands American Society of Ohio (NASO), who will bring cake for our post-worship reception! They asked the Covenant and the Friends of the McGaffin Carillon in University Circle to help them observe the major Dutch holidays of Remembrance Day (May 4), when they honor those fallen in World War II and later wars, and Liberation Day (May 5), when they celebrate the end of Nazi Occupation. Jonathan Moyer and George Leggiero have planned some Dutch-themed music in worship and from our Dutch-made 47-bell carillon.
Children leave for Sunday School after the Time for Young Disciples and will rehearse for Youth Sunday after worship. The nursery opens at 9:30 am with professional childcare for infants and preschoolers.
Annual Meeting This Sunday:
The session has called the annual
meeting
of the congregation for this
Sunday, May 6,
immediately following worship. We will gather together for a time of fellowship with snacks provided by the deacons, engage in Bible study, and hear reports on the Dowd Commons renovation and the state of the church. At

, we will head outside to put our faith into action by helping to beautify the grounds of the church. Tasks for all levels of participation are being identified by the trustees, so wear comfortable clothes to worship; bring rakes, shovels, and gardening gloves; and join us for 30-60 minutes of outside work (weather-permitting). Ginny and Greg Kowalski relocated from Atlanta, Georgia in July 2017. Greg's clinical work for Hanger Clinic, a prosthetics and orthotics company, brought them to Cleveland. Ginny works in marketing and communication at Ursuline College. They live in Tremont, where they enjoy walking to local restaurants, shopping at the West Side Market, and biking on the Towpath Trail. They were married at Second Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia in 2016 by Ginny's father.

Outreach Opportunities
Airport Rides for College Students - Can you help?
The end of the academic year is fast approaching! Covenant Student Ministries is looking to create a team of volunteer drivers to take students to the airport to catch flights home for the summer. This program will run from April 30th to May 21st. CWRU, CIM, and CIA students will be able to request rides and we will match them with available drivers. Are you willing to give up an hour or so of your time to pick someone up from the Church parking lot and take them to Cleveland Hopkins Airport? Seeking Volunteer Help with the Sanctuary Sound System
We are grateful for your patience in worship as our sound system is repaired. In the meantime, we are seeking additional volunteers to help run the system during worship and other occasional events in the sanctuary. Although some experience with audio equipment would be helpful, we will also offer training on the system. Please contact Amy Starr Redwine if you are willing to assist with this vital ministry that makes our worship accessible to all.
Walk Against Hunger
This year, the church staff will join other University Circle institutions in the 8th Annual Circle Challenge: The Wade Oval Walk Against Hunger, Friday, May 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please support the staff in our efforts to fight hunger by making a donation of support, either by making a
financial
contribution of cash or a check made out to Harvest for Hunger, by bringing a donation of non-perishable food to the church office, or by joining us on the walk! We are grateful for your support.
The Harvest for Hunger Campaign is one of the largest hunger relief campaigns in the nation, collecting enough money and food to provide 50 million meals in 2017 to hungry people in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland and Richland counties. Dollars raised through the Harvest for Hunger campaign make food available to local hunger centers for free. For every dollar donated to Harvest for Hunger, four nutritious meals will be provided to those in need in our community.
Parade the Circle

. Visitors to our Wade Oval tent will decorate McGaffin tower bookmarks promoting our church and its community instrument. We need over 50 volunteers for this event: 47 "bats"-one for each bell in our carillon-and at least a dozen people to work in shifts at our Circle Village Tent. We can't do it without you!

Brass for Africa uses music as a tool to empower and transform the lives of more than 1000 extremely disadvantaged, and often disabled children and young people in Uganda and Liberia every week. Working with local organizations, we provide weekly brass music education alongside performance opportunities and life skills training to young people from orphanages, slums, and rehabilitation centers.
