"The Caltrans ownership of these historic homes in this 710 corridor has been an unmitigated disaster, and it's an agency that really is not equipped to be long-term property owners and managers, and is now trying to extricate itself from a task that it had never really wanted to begin with. This is a very labor-intensive enterprise that has to be managed very skillfully, and it's going to be a real challenge for Caltrans to carry this on."

The public is invited to attend the regular WPRA board meetings, held at 6:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month (except MayAugust, and December) in the Westridge School Community Room (unless otherwise noted), 324 Madeline Dr. Park in the State St. lot and walk north across campus to the Community Room. 

WPRA seeks email newsletter editors
Do you have organizing and editing skills? If so, you can help the WPRA achieve its mission of informing the community. Send an email to [email protected] to volunteer to serve as one of several co-editors of WPRA's weekly Neighborhood Update email newsletter. It will only take a few hours a week (on your own schedule) in the month or two a year in which you'd serve. We'll train you.

  UPCOMING MAJOR ROSE BOWL STADIUM/AREA EVENTS

SATURDAY, JUNE 23, AND SUNDAY, JUNE 24 - Arroyo Seco Weekend

Arroyo Seco Weekend is a world class culture event featuring three stages of live music along with curated menus from Los Angeles' celebrated restaurants and chefs, plus craft beer and wine.

Avenue 64 roadwork update
A new 8-inch diameter water mainline is being installed on Avenue 64 from Colorado Blvd. to Church St. The work will also include replacing all the fire hydrants and connecting individual water services to the new water main. The pipeline will increase the overall reliability and quality of water service. The project was necessary to replace a water main that was installed in 1921 and 1926. The work has started and will be completed by the end of August. Each property owner along the route will be kept informed if their water must be shut off as the project progresses. Electronic waste and document shredding event
Residents can safely dispose of electronic waste and have personal and business documents shredded at the city's popular free e-waste event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Saturday, June 16. The event will be held in Parking Lot I outside the Rose Bowl Stadium near Brookside Park, 360 N. Arroyo Blvd.

Pasadena Media to host studio and field production camp
Pasadena Media invites participants between the ages of 12 to 17 to spend a week with us training in studio and field production. This program will focus on youth-driven productions and will result in at least one studio and one field production which will air on television. Participants will be required to bring their lunch. Camp week:  June 18 to June 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Need-based scholarships are available. To register  click here. For more information, call  626) 794-8585 or email  [email protected].

An Adopt-A-Future benefit concert will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at the Westridge School's Performing Arts Center, 324 Madeline Dr. The concert is sponsored by the United Nations Association (UNA) - Pasadena Chapter. The Adopt-A-Future program focuses on providing educational services to the world's 35 million refugee children. UNA-Pasadena hopes to raise $30,000 to build a school. The concert will include performances by adolescent students of the prestigious Coburn School including one performer who is a Syrian refugee.

Pasadena Heritage cordially invites you to Pasadena's biggest and best block party on the world-famous historic Colorado Street Bridge - a night of music, dancing, vintage cars, children's activities, beverages and food, and more from 6 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.
