QCC Updates, Information, and Reminders
|
|
Hello everyone. We hope you enjoy our Spring Quarterly. If you have any feedback on the newsletter, please let us know! We want to be sure we are sharing information, news, and updates with you that are meaningful and relevant to your work as a child care provider and early educator in Lane County. Please take a moment to read below for a couple of reminders and requests.
We strive to keep provider accounts up-to-date on our email list and class registration software program. Having accurate contact information for you is vital to keeping you informed of professional development opportunities, news from the Early Learning Division and Office of Child Care, and information about potential scholarships, grants, and networks. Please email us right away if your phone number, address, or email has changed. And, for programs that manage employees, please let us know when you have staff changes. It is so much easier for you to enroll your employees into a class or conference when your staff list is current.
As a reminder, our office is typically open Monday-Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. And, we are currently now open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 6:00 p.m. Please note that we are a small office, with just seven employees. We are often on the phone or out visiting programs (our favorite part of the job!) so we are not always able to answer the phone right away. Please be assured that if you leave a voicemail, it is always our goal to return your call within one business day. When you leave a message, please speak clearly and slowly, and leave your full name, phone number, the reason for your call, and the best time to reach you. Thanks for helping us stay in touch with you!

Confused About Training Requirements?
|
|
The training requirements for licensing can be confusing, especially when the rules and regulations change. To be sure you understand your requirements, please feel free to contact us at QCC, or speak with your licensing specialist.
As a reminder, licensed child care providers must attend professional development trainings each year. And a portion of the trainings you take must specifically be in "child development." Click on the buttons to the right to better understand how many training hours you need.
So how do you know which courses are considered "child development"? It's easy to figure out! ALL of the Core Knowledge Categories (CKC) are considered child development, except those beginning with the letter "P". Thus, the two CKC's that do not count as Child Development are:
- Personal, Professional, and Leadership Development
- Program Management
Additionally, be aware that the most Safety, Health, and Nutrition courses count as part of your
|
|
child development training requirement.
HOWEVER, your Safety Set classes, which include the courses below, are NOT considered Child Development courses:
- First Aid/CPR
- Infant Safe Sleep
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
- Food Handler's certification
- Child Care Health and Safety
Click on the buttons below for more information on the required trainings for family child care providers and child care center staff.

State Reimbursements for Child Care Providers
|
|
Did you know you may be reimbursed for some of the costs associated with being a child care provider? Check out these great opportunities!
|
|
CPR/First Aid Reimbursement for Assistant I and Aide I
Aide 1 and Assistant 1 providers are now required to maintain a current Pediatric CPR/First Aid card. Because the State understands this can be a hardship for providers, they will now reimburse those employees for the cost of the certification. Staff working at Certified Centers are only eligible for reimbursement if their title is
Aide 1. Staff working at Family Child Care facilities are only eligible if their title is
Assistant 1. Titles must match what is on file with the Office of Child Care.
To receive your reimbursement, complete the reimbursement request form and Substitute W-9 form. Send these two documents along with a copy of the completed training certificate
and the original receipt to the address on the request form. Invoices submitted with missing data and/or signatures will have payment held until completed form is received. Click the link below to access the appropriate documents.
|
|
Lead Testing Reimbursement for Licensed and DHS Providers
All licensed and DHS providers, including both family providers and child care centers, are now eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of lead testing as well as the cost of purchase and installation for a lead filter and/or new faucet (as required for corrective action.)
To receive your reimbursement, complete the Lead Testing Reimbursement form and Substitute W-9 form. Send these two documents
and a copy of your receipts to the address on the reimbursement form. Invoices submitted with missing data and/or signatures will have payment held until completed form is received. Click the links below to access the appropriate documents.

Professional Development Recognition for Providers
|
The
Oregon Registry is a voluntary statewide program that documents and recognizes the professional achievements of people who work in the childhood care and education profession. Once you are enrolled in the system, you can upload your education and training documents. You can view your account and print a Professional Development Statement by visiting
https://my.oregonregistryonline.org/.
The
Oregon Registry Steps
are a sequence of twelve steps based on your training and education in the childhood care and education field. When you submit a Step Application, the Registry will review your documentation and assign you a Step.
Education Awards
are payments that reward child care and education professionals for educational achievements and encourage continued training and education. When you apply for a Step 3 through 12 on the Oregon Registry, you may be eligible for a $100-$200 Education Award. Be sure to complete the “Education Award Eligibility Supplement Form” in the
Oregon Registry Step Application
. To be eligible for an Education Award, you must be working in an Office of Child Care (OCC) licensed facility or you must be a Department of Human Services (DHS) active provider.
Additionally, achieving a Step 7 or higher on the Oregon Registry can help your program meet Spark standards, and will look great on your resume! Quality Care Connections staff can help you increase your steps and earn education awards. Give us a call at 541-463-3954. For more information about the Oregon Registry, please visit:

Imagination Library
Dolly Parton created the Imagination Library to make books more available to young children, because early experience with reading is so important to their futures.
Families who live in Eugene city limits can sign up their kids, ages birth through four, and Imagination Library will send each child a new book every month. The books are a
free
gift for the kids to keep. The purpose is to help local children become "reading ready" by the time they start kindergarten. Reading with young children is proven to make a big difference to their future success.
The program is supported by the Dollywood Foundation, combined with local donations from each participating community. In Eugene, the local donations are being raised by the
Eugene Public Library Foundation
.
Please share this wonderful program with your families! Click on the link below for more information.
