6th Sunday of Easter

Russell's Ritings....

This Sunday we continue the series, "What We Need". The sermon is "What We Need: HOPE" (Psalm 118:24). Looking ahead these words from "The Writings" are meaningful:

One step at a time He quietly leads us,
One step at a time He gently guides.
One step at a time Lest it becomes too heavy,
One step at a time He gently guides.
One step at a time The load becomes lighter,
One step at a time The light is brighter.
One step at a time we're almost there,
One step at a time We see the light.
One step at a time We see the light.

Ken Callahan, church sociologist and planner, said - and it's SO true,

                                HOPE IS STRONGER THAN MEMORY!

Shalom,
Russell

CHRISTENING AND DIAPER SHOWER
Christening at the 10:30 Service with
Diaper Shower and Cake After the Service

This Mother's Day we will be celebrating the christening of a new little member,  Scarlet Begonia Brady, daughter of Bernie and Meredith and sister Stella.  Cake and refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall after the 10:30 service to welcome our newest little one and her family.

We would also like to make this a diaper shower! So if you would like to take part we ask that you bring a package of disposal diapers (size 2-5) as your gift to the Brady family.  Diapers may be left in the Fellowship Hall ahead of time. No wrapping is needed. You may add a card or you can remain anonymous. This is meant to be easy on everyone but it will be a big help to the Brady family!

We are starting a new UMCE tradition, and we hope you will join in. We will be doing this for any of our members starting or adding to their family. Thank you!

MEMORIAL SERVICE ON
Saturday, May 19th

You may bring your dish the  morning of Saturday 19th or leave at the church during office hours on Friday morning. Please label your dish "Rod's Memorial". The family has asked for light refreshments, so no finger sandwiches, etc.

Thank you in advance! Marcia will be away from April 20-May 12, so she may not get a voicemail message.  Please email or text her at:  [email protected]  or text: 303-898-3748.

SERIES ON THE PARABLES (No. 5):
LOST AND FOUND (LUKE 15)
Facilitator: The Rev. Russell Fletcher
Sinners come to hear Jesus. He is criticized for relating to them and then tells three stories about a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost boy. The chapter teaches that a loving, compassionate, saving God welcomes and forgives sinners.

Sunday, May 13 from 9:30 - 10:20 am
SERIES ON THE PARABLES (No. 6):
THE UNCARING JUDGE (Luke 18: 1-8)
Facilitator: The Rev. Russell Fletcher
Life is not fair. Injustice, discrimination, prejudice and tough luck abound. What's the use? Why pray? Jesus urged His followers not to be discouraged but to keep on praying.

Hope to see you there!
